Sekonjellashoed Farm

Sekonjellashoed is a beautiful farm situated approximately 30 km from both Rosendal and Ficksburg, with mountains surrounding the area. The cottage is set on a working farm and provides the perfect spot for a group of friends or family, to have a relaxing holiday. The views of the surrounding mountains are spectacular. Horse riding, hiking and 44 trails are some of the activities available and our staff enjoy showing city kids where milk actually comes from. Situated halfway between Ficksburg and Rosendal, we are just a short drive to most of the eastern Free States attractions.

Enjoy a brake away knowing that you are being kind to the environment; the cottage was built using reclaimed sandstone and thatch cut by locals in the surrounding veld. Solar panels provide electricity. Please note the solar powered system cannot accommodate appliances with high voltage requirements; that means no hair dryers, flat irons, toasters etc. Laptops or any battery charged equipment can be accommodated.

The latest addition to the farm is a 100 hectare game camp. Species include Sable antelope, Nyala, Bontebok and Ribbok.

Ficksburg is the closest town to the Lesotho border. This small village is not only a busy trading town, but is well known for its scenic game farms. The little farming town of Rosendal lies 43 km north of Ficksburg in a valley surrounded by the Witteberge, part of the Drakensberg range. Rosendal is a place of undiscovered beauty with stunning views and a lot of rustic charm.

Please bear in mind that during the wet rainy season, the roads are slippery. It may be difficult to drive with a small sedan. A 4x4 is not necessary.
