Franschhoek Country Cottages

Franschhoek Country Cottages offers self-catering accommodation in four private cottages. The units offer a romantic retreat ideal for couples visiting this picturesque area, in a wildlife reserve just outside of central Franschhoek. It is Ideal for 2 people, however, if you do have children(2 children max), we can put 2 mattresses on the floor for them. Kids love this.

Each cottage has one bedroom and an open-plan living area. The living room has comfortable seating and a cosy fireplace for the cold winter nights. The kitchen is well equipped with all cutlery and crockery provided. The lounge and bedroom each have a wall-mounted heater. The bedrooms have overhead fans for the warm summers. A private veranda offers guests a place to relax and enjoy the views overlooking a waterhole frequented by the resident wildlife and birds.

Franchhoek itself is a picturesque little town that is popular for its rich history and award-winning wine farms. The village has numerous cafs and restaurants where guests can enjoy a glass of wine and the peaceful surroundings. The village also has numerous arts and craft shops as well as art galleries to explore.

"Its the perfect countryside escape for city dwellers. We were looking for a simple place in the countryside to spend the weekend with kids, and to let them experience some wildlife and nature. The cottages were very basic, but neat, clean and comfortable. The wild life provided excitement for kids and adults alike, and we enjoyed some relaxed biking and hiking. The town and wine farms were just a few km away so everything easily accessible."

"We loved having a braai, in fact, having all meals while sitting on the stoep looking at the animals just a few metres away. This is a very nice place to go to to simply relax and spend time with loved ones. The cottage was clean and well equipped - we had a lovely stay!"

"We were disappointed with the cottage. When we arrived we had no idea which cottage we were in. There were 4 in a row, and all were open. We had no documentation telling us which one we were staying in and no-one was there to greet us. We texted the owner and never got a reply, and there was no reply to a phone message we left (at a cost of 4 a minute!). The cottage was very basic. After a 4 hour journey we were dismayed to have to search through a scruffy file of leaflets to find any information about the town and places to shop for food."

"We were rather disappointed with our stay at FCC. Firstly there was nobody around when we arrived (or for most of the time). We did not know where to go and ended up at someone's house up the road who phoned the owner who told us which unit to go into. It became apparent that the owner lived in Cape Town.We had water problems (no water for some time) again it was hard to locate anyone. Our bins were not emptied daily.Flies were bad. Perhaps because of the close proximity of the animals screens should be put on the windows.The road leading into the location was so bad that we had a puncture. Otherwise it had what it said, or rather didn't have what it did not say eg. no hair dryer, no T.V., no aircon. Many window latches were broken and some windows would not close. I can't give this place any stars by choice."
