Chapter House Boutique Hotel

Chapter House Boutique Hotel is the most recent addition to The Living Journey Collection, and one of the most exciting new additions to the Franschhoek town center, located just a few minutes walk from the very many wonderful and award-winning restaurants that Franschhoek has to offer.

This hotel is soaked in history and is a very significant building in the history of this charming town. Originally built as a Mission House in 1888, and later serving as the village school right up until 1974, this house has chapters filled with stories to tell.
The recent renovations have captured many of the original features and restored them to their former glory. The dcor is simply captivating, impressively combining heritage design with local creativity, charm, and color. The public areas of the hotel benefit from enormous attention to detail, including bespoke art pieces from local artists, and handpicked furniture and fabrics. The breath-taking lounge boasts exceptionally high ceilings and a strikingly generous original fireplace. The reception area leads into a bar and terrace overlooking the pool to one side, and the beautifully paneled breakfast room to the other side. The breakfast room unfolds on to the original veranda and on to a glorious garden of roses, lavender and beautiful indigenous trees creating an oasis of calm and relaxation against a backdrop of the Franschhoek mountains.
There are nine guest units made up of three categories; Classic Rooms, Deluxe Rooms, and Superior Suites. Seven of the rooms boast their own private outside space and three of these have their own plunge pool. All rooms have an impressive range of facilities including a king-size bed, ensuite bathroom, in-room safe, LED TV, free Wi-fi, and air conditioning.
Included in the services offered are a 24-hour concierge, an in-room spa service, a day room, breakfast served until 11 am, an all-day dining menu, and a full-service bar.

Chapter House is the third hotel managed by the Schaefer Partnership under The Living Journey Collection and will complement both the Tree House Boutique Hotel and Villa Zest Boutique Hotel in Green Point, both of which continue to go from strength to strength.

"The establishment did not have our booking on arrival and I got the impression it was a hassle for them. They eventually "SORTED" the issue out, although by then I had phoned Safari Now to ascertain the problem. Not a very good impression for arriving guests at all. The other staff though were extremely helpful and friendly ."

"Warm, characterful large, rooms. Great bathroom. (other than water restrictions in force, and tap was very sticky). perfect village position.Very friendly, engaging staff.If I must criticise, I would perhaps say the buffet at breakfast is a bit unimaginative. Could just be that its winter. Cooked breakfast and coffee were great."

"My daughter and I stayed for one night during the Bastille Festival weekend. A lovely old building beautifully maintained. The welcoming staff were great. We had the room with its own terrace and little pool, a fireplace in our bedroom. The bed was extremely comfortable, and we woke up to a great breakfast. The 'restaurant' staff were so friendly and accommodating. I rarely stay twice in a place but Residence Klein Oliphants Hoek is on my repeat list! It is perfectly situated with regards to the town, walking distance to the center. Highly recommend!"

"My mother and I are from Kalk Bay and Fish Hoek area and have just been through a very stressful time. We wanted a cosy comfy stay for one night only, to have supper at a good restaurant and enjoy the fresh air, mountains and interesting shops!Your B&B is perfectly central and beautifully decorated and comfortable, just what we had pictured!I am a Jazz Vocalist and often perform with my band The Baobab Three at wine farms and corporate venues in the Franschoek area, so it is useful to know of a place that is homely and easy going.The breakfast and service was great too, even though I prefer rye bread and am a fishetarian.We will be back!"

"We have been to Franschhoek before and staying at Klein Oliphants just made us want to come back again! The establishment was excellent, we stayed in the lovely sundeck Jacuzzi room and couldn´t have been happier, only to bad we only had 2 nights.Also ate at Bouillabasse one night and it was our best dinner Ever, the food is truly magnificent, go there!! Definitely going back toboth places, next time in SA."

"Klein Oliphants Hoek made me feel like i was on my grandfather's farm again with the high ceilings and wooden floors and old worldy charm. Yet with all the modern "fittings" one could ever wish for. The tranquil garden and the smell of fresh lavender had a real calming effect on me as i sipped my pre dinner drink on the stoep. A fantastic rejuvenating weekend away. Highly recommended! "
