  "This hotel is clean and spacious. The views of the Gariep Dam are breathtaking. The staff are helpful and friendly, but not overbearing. It was wonderful to break our trip between Joberg and Cape Town by staying here. Highly recommend it."

  "After our fantastic Namibian trip, I must say that I was really disappointed with our overnight stay at de Stijl at R1005 per night per person which included a cereal breakfast /yoghurt and fruit otherwise you had to purchase items from breakfast menu. Our waiter Vuyo was fantastic in the evening. My rare rump steak was rather tough and there were no sauce options (pepper, mushroom etc) but my husband enjoyed his lamb curry. Not sure we will stop off there again."

  "Nice hotel with glorious views of Gariep Dam. Large rooms but no fridge and no international news channels. The food was ghastly. The lamb roast was dry and chewy. The pumpkin swimming in sugar. Omlette for breakfast was cold. The only Sauvignon Blanc by the glass was undrinkkable. Problem with hotels like these is that they employ cooks, not chefs. Cooks use no herbs and spices and don't have a clue about innovative cuisine."

  "We had a lovely stay at De Stijl. The staff (especially in the restaurant) is super friendly and mad us feel very welcome. The room is neat & clean, the only thing I missed was a plug close to a mirror to style my hair. The food in the restaurant is superb and the views are absolutely gorgeous!"

  "Lovely rooms and outside patio area with a stunning view. Even though our dinner at the Mondrian restaurant was delicious, the service was terrible. It took us 45 min to get a drink, only two of the 10 craft beers on display where in stock and the dessert was pre-prepared and had already gone hard. All in all a pleasant experience but the service at the restaurant did not reflect the prices charged for our meal and drinks."

  "The rooms are very below 3* standard(I design 4/5 star hotels with huge budget constraints and the room always are well finished off). The restaurant makes up for the rooms. Food is stunning and staff friendly The public walkways especially flooring is old scrappy and dirty."

  "A fabulous find in the middle of SA. A view and sunset worth waking up early for. The staff were professional and friendly. Loved the attentiveness and attitude of Xhandu during dinner. The rooms are very very large and empty - the space could be better utilised to make it more modern and attractive."

  "What an absolute oasis after a long drive in the summer. The staff were excellent, the room perfect and the view just great. And then supper! It was one of the nicest evenings I have spent in my life. My fillet steak, 'the beast', must be rated as the best I have ever tasted. The De Stijl is a permanent stop for us. Keep it up!"

  "Dis 'n pragtige, netjiese plek. Die personeel was baie vriendelik. Ons het baie lekker aandete gehad, maar ons dame kelnerin kon net meer vriendeliker gewees het. Verder was ons kamer skoon en alles op hul plek. Sal definitief weer daar oorslaap. Sal dit ook aanbeveel. It is a beautiful and neat place. The staff were very friendly. We had a great dinner, but our waitress could have been a little more friendly. Otherwise, our room was clean and everything was in its place. We will definitely visit again and recommend it."

  "The hotel is an amazing eye opener. We were expecting a run-of-the-mill country establishment but were delighted to find a stylish hotel that would have been at home in a metropolitan setting. The staff were helpful and friendly, and the restaurant was excellent. Carefully selected quality wines were available by the glass, and the food was memorable. We drive from Cape Town to Kruger every second year or so, and shall go out of our way to stop here again."

  "This is a lovely hotel and the perfect stop over for a trip from Gauteng to the Cape both because it is equidistant and it is beautifully appointed in an amazing area of the country. The hosts were so accommodating and helpful under trying circumstances and I would recommend this hotel to everybody."
