The little town Oviston is situated on the southern banks of the Gariep dam.
The Lodge, however, does not front the dam, but is about 15 - 20 minutes walk from it.
We do offer a variety of rooms: Double rooms, Family Units, as well as Self-catering cottages, with most of our Double and family rooms en-suite shower rooms.
We also offer a diner where we prepare evening meals and breakfast as an optional extra.
We do not have a licensed bar, but our guests are more than welcome to bring their own alcoholic beverages along.
"Tidy and clean, however most of the furniture is very old. Beds are uncomfortable to sleep on and the double bed in the master bedroom is short, our feet were hanging of the end of the bed."
"Thank you for your hospitality! We enjoyed our stay very much. Would definately be comming back."
"We arrived and found that the complex is being renovated. The dining area is completely bare, and some of the rooms are being worked on.

The staff are extremely friendly, and helpful. With the work going on they aren't always on top of things, but make an effort to make you comfortable once you're there.

The rooms are cosy and the beds clean and very comfortable. Tea, coffee, milk and a kettle were found, and they tried to find some supper for us.

The only bad part was the water. The pressure is very low and hot water doesn't easily flow.

I am assuming that these are all going to be worked on.

I'll be back in the future. Looks like it will be a very nice place when it's finished. Thank you!"
"What a disappointment. arrived at this little settlement near Gariep dam to overnight. Happened to be a wedding taking place that night so no sleep would have been possible basis the proximity in this small establishment. It seems as if it may have been an old school which has been converted to sleeping quarters. The building of made of asbestoswith rooms sharing common walls thus no sound privacy. Tiles have been shopped off the floors leaving the raw cement in a rough state. paint peeling off walls in the very old showers. no fans or aircon in mid summer. We took one look at the rooms, gave the keys back to the manager, told him to keep his money, and left very disappointed. Cost was R750 for the night for a room sleeping three people. Never go there."
"While the accommodation was clean and fairly comfortable it is very rustic.Unfortunately the rooms are not serviced and our rubbish bin was overflowing after two days. We did not have soap in our bathroom and when the toilet paper was finished it was not replenished. The owners were extremely welcoming. Riaan was very helpful and even took us fishing. The dinner (sheep on a spit) on Old Years night was fantastic and very reasonably priced."
"The Motel is not located at the Gariep Town but 40 odd KMs away at little Gariep. Although hosts are friendly the rooms leave a lot to be desired. There was no soap in the bathroom or any coffee in the room. The rooms are very dated with beds that are probably just as old. On entering the pub one is taken back to an offensive era, with swart stickers on the roof along with two old RSA flags.I would not recommend this place to any one."
