  "There was no electricity and this was only communicated after booking. Two 80 year old travellers had to find alternative accommodation. Thus we could not use the establishment."

  "The towels were fantastic. Cottage was spotless but could do with some TLC on the locks of the doors. Location was good. No view of the dam but this was not a problem. Enjoyed our stay."

  "We made a mistake by booking for two nights because it is definitely only a stop over considering the unit we stayed in. The couches were not comfortable, considering driving for 8 hours and try to relax on these couches is very painful to a persons back. We never got the unit we booked for Rooibekkie, but was given another unit without informing us before time."

  "We stayed in Hammerkop cottage. It was clean and we slept well - thankful for the electric blankets. Unfortunately there was not enough hot water to shower and the cottage is cold. Better value for money staying somewhere else."

  "We stayed in Flamingo Great place, clean enough, well equipped, DSTV very limited.Biggest problem was the shower, I understand it is solar but no pressure and impossible to set temperature. Shower really needs attention."

  "A superb location - Oviston is nestled next to the shores of the Gariep Dam and offers a sense of being "away" from the world. Rose Cottage is neat, clean, spacious, and offers everything required and more. The garden and pool offer a lovely spot to relax and braai. The aircon is a must in summer and was most welcome!"

  "We stayed at Reidier. For an over night stay it is perfect, it has a big fridge where you can store your karoo lamb, a clean bathroom, a nice lounge with a few select channels on the TV, and a bedroom with clean linen. It was incredibly hot though so fans throughout the house would've been nice. Also, the walls are very thin, so you are very close to your neighbours. I know Reider is one of the better rose cottage options. If you visit the De Stjill hotel for dinner its a perfect stop over."

  "No we most certainly did not enjoy our stay at Rose Cottage! In fact, we did not even stay there. We arrived at around 5pm to find nobody around and all cottages closed. We left a voicemail on the landline number shown on the reservation as their offices were closed. There was no answer on the cellphone number that was provided (there was also no voicemail option on the cellphone) despite numerous attempts. After half an hour of waiting with two extremely tired kids in the car we left and stayed in other accommodation. To say I was not impressed is putting it politely and I very much doubt whether I will use or recommend this service again."

  "We really enjoyed staying overnight on our way to Cape Town from Secunda. The room was very comfortable and the host, Chris, very pleasant. All in all it was excellent value for money. We were even considering booking the facility for an extended weekend for a family reunion, where we could meet the family from PE halfway and no doubt have a good time."
