  "We stayed in Unit 4 and we felt that the verandah should have blinds because the sun beat into that area which serves as the eating area - very hot. Also the breakfast was a little disappointing - the bacon looked like old leather and soft eggs ordered were served very overcooked. This was our 3rd stay at the Lodge."

  "We struggled to get a hold of the owner upon arrival, they were at the bottom of the property gardening. She showed us to our rooms, and advised us to visit the . The walls are rather thin making it difficult to sleep if the neighbors just talk on their cell phone. The rooms are small, but the layout is well thought-out, with a quaint and well equipped kitchen area with mini-fridge. There is a shower in the room and a separate toilet. We had a comfortable night over. The view in the afternoons and mornings (from the kitchen) over the dam is fantastic! It was unfortunate that the water levels were at 50% with our visit, imagine it at 100%!"

  "+Interior was very nice+Bed was comfortable+Host was very friendly and accommodating-Noisy. People were making noise throughout the night and it disturbed our sleep. Were woken up at 12am, 3am, and 4am. The rooms are not sound proof at all.-No milk in the room-The light from the DSTV decoder is very bright in darkness. We had to cover the decoder with a magazine."

  "This is an excellent choice for an overnight stay - we traveled from Knysna to Joburg, and this was in a perfect location. The accommodation was clean, spacious and had everything we needed. The unit we stayed in had a great view of the dam. The host was very friendly. We would definitely stay there again."

  "We where traveling and after a long drive, the friendlyness of the owners was very welcomming. The room had all one could wish for. The "in-suite" shower was a novelty. Breakfast was a 9/10."

  "We decided on a stop over on our way from Port Elizabeth to Johannesburg and I found View Lodge via SafariNow. What a fabulous place for an overnight stay and very reasonable too. Clean rooms, comfortable beds, coffee and tea (with biscuits) and the most amazing view of the dam.<div>View Lodge definitely lives up to it's name - highly recommended!</div>"

  "View Lodge is clean and well decorated with a great view of the dam. When we arrived, however, our room did not have any water. The owner said her husband would look into it and have it fixed. After returning to our room much later that evening we still had no water and a 5 litre bottle of water was provided. This was totally insufficient as there three of us and this water had to be for drinking, washing and the toilet!. Very early in the morning I went to see if there were other bathroom facilities we could use and the owner was totally unapologetic and then informed us that the whole top floor didn't have water. They let us use another unit's bathroom but this was too little too late! We had paid in full for our accommodation and there was no offer of compensation at all. Surely in peak season you call a plumber to rectify such a dire situation."

  "Every detail seemed to be considered. The rooms were clean and nicely furnished, beds comfy with good quality sheets. I was thrilled after a long, hot journey to find ice in the freezer. The view was stunning, the pool refreshing, the owners friendly... I just struggled in the twin room with the January heat as there was only a fan, but the main room had an aircon. I hope to get back here for more than an overnight."

  "Not what I expected. No credit card facilities. Had to go in search of dinner- no directions given. Asked for room with no stairs - got a duplex room.<br></br> <b>Establishment's response</b><br></br> <i>1. All our ads state that we do not have card facilities. In Gariep Dam 1.5 km away from us are 3 ATMS, Absa, Standard and FNB.<br></br> 2. When she booked: her booking stated 2 people no sex was mentioned, and no stairs so I booked her in unit 6.<br></br> 3. On her arrival we noticed it was her and her mother and as unit six only has a double bed we moved her to unit 1 which has two separate bed rooms a bath and shower, two separate toilets and the stairs was only to get to the kitchen and living area - which unit 6 does not have, there is a TV in the one bedroom so there was no need to use the top level, she could have taken the kettle for coffee and tea down stairs or we could have done it for her. We thought it was best for the client as the bottom part of this unit was double the size of unit six. The price is double that of unit 6 and she was not charged a cent extra.<br></br> 4. When we checked her in there was no complaint from her side so we took it for granted that she was satisfied.<br></br> 5. Regarding her search to have dinner! We are always help full so if she asked we could have told her where to go, also 1.5 km from us and if she checked the info folder in the unit it even has the names and contact numbers. In some cases we even go and get take away for the clients if needed.</i>"

  "After a disastrous stop over in Colesberg we were dreading the return journey and decided to stay over at View Lodge at Gariep Dam instead. It was beautiful. Our unit was absolutely spotlessly clean. All white decor and linen and magnificent views of the dam. Although we are well travelled and somewhat particular about where we stay, we are not overly critical. Instead we ask for only the basics and that includes cleanliness. View Lodge was this and a whole lot more. It comes HIGHLY recommended."
