  "Friday looked after us very well, even though we arrived late. The kitchen stayed longer than usual so we could have a hot meal when we arrived - much appreciated. There was no soap in the bathroom, but other than that, our cottage was great. Perfect for a family or friends traveling together. And the food was great!"

  "We loved everything except the room, did not like the room at all1. Too dark2. Too hot3. In a dungeon 4. Bugs everywhereA pity the room was doggy as we really loved it. Will recommend it and come again but not in that room. Not suitable for families, children were scared."

  "We stayed in the self catering unit right on the river. It is a very comfortable unit with a beautiful deck and braai right on the river. The only negative thing is that the bedrooms do not have adequate lighting making it impossible to read in bed."

  "I loved the views and peaceful surroundings Melissaw welcomed us in a friendly manner. She told us that we could use the self-catering unit, which was better suited for 4 adults, and said our breakfast is still included. She told us about the braai packs and wood. We enjoyed a lovely braai on the deck whilst enjoying the view. Although the unit was comfortable, the bathroom needs love and tender care...like tiles on the floor."

  "There were a problem with allocation of the room when we arrived but was sorted out quickly. Beautiful view of the river. The food was great but very limited menu. Breakfast can also be improved on. Room was clean but very basic, battled with the taps in the shower. <br/>Great stop over after a long drive, just arrange for dinner to be served before the time.<br/>Good value for money."

  "What a way to end our Xmas break relaxing. This is a gem on the banks of the Orange River in the Gariep Dam Area. There is no need to see the dam when you have such beauty and nature around you. The stars are also an attraction in the evening. The staff are friendly and the self catering accommodation rustic to fit in with the surrounds."

  "No good. When we enquired, they were apparently full and were offered the "farmhouse" - away from the main establishment. One word describes it: "Unacceptable". A clue should have been when the children didn't want to get out of the car on arrival. We arrived too tired and late to try for something else, and we had previously paid the deposit. We escaped in the morning first thing."

  "Unfortunately our stay at Waschbank was very disappointing. The self catering accommodation provided was completely inadequate for the price with air conditioning that did not work, a dirty braai, thick duvets in the heat of summer and a manager who was unable / unwilling to solve the problems. Alternative rooms were not available, flat sheets could not be provided. We were unable to sleep in the accommodation, so left and spent the rest of the night elsewhere. This was really a rip off and I would not recommend this venue to others."

  "We arrived in the late afternoon and received a friendly greeting. We were given an upgrade on our room as they were not busy. The view of the river was amazing, the staff friendly and the supper we had was basic but good. We enjoyed overnighting at Waschbank."

  "Waschbank River Lodge is an ideal overnight spot en route between Johannesburg and Cape Town. With its tranquil setting and friendly staff it offers a welcome break after hours of concentrating on the road. We spent the night in a self-catering unit and enjoyed the sound of the flowing Orange River waters from our deck. The unit is spacious and has everything one needs, even a fan if the air-conditioning isn't working. The lodge has a good setting as it is right on the river bank with scenic views of the river and very close to the dam wall and the town of Gariep if you want to pop past there before joining the N1 again. We had a hearty breakfast the next day and I found the accommodation rates reasonable. Thank you for the drinking water in the fridge, I did get a bit of a fright when I saw the orange water coming out of the tap."

  "Everything was better than expected. The receptionist was very friendly. Did not get her name though. The Manager, Dirk Jan, was really good. He personally took us to fishing spots and sorted a problem in the chalet. The service was excellent. I will be back."

Heerlike rustige atmosfeer met die mees gerieflike pragtige skoon slaap fasaliteite. Pragtige uitsig toe ons die volgende oggend wakker word. Beveel beslis die vriendelike gasvryheid aan en sal graag weer wil oorbly en vir langer ook."
