Basotho Cultural Village Rest Camp SANParks Golden Gate Highlands National Park

The Basotho Cultural Village Rest Camp offers comfortable self-catering accommodation with splendid views, where game viewing is practically enjoyed without the trouble of having to embark on a game searching journey. The camp also has communal braai facilities that are shared amongst families sharing the kraal and also private Weber braai facilities for every chalet.

Activities available at Golden Gate Highlands National Park include abseiling, canoeing, game drives, hiking and nature walks, horse riding, and swimming.

Additional activities on offer at Basotho Cultural Village include a Cultural Route, Herbal Trail, and Museum Tour.

Other useful information at this rest camp:

- Pets are not allowed.

- As outdoor lighting in camps is limited, a torch/headlamp is required when walking outside at night.

- Vehicle repair, medical, post office and police services at Clarens (17 km) or Bethlehem ( 60 km).

- Remember to bring a hat, walking shoes, sun block, camera, binoculars and wildlife reference books.

- Hikers on day and overnight trails must always carry sufficient water.

- Take cool and light clothing for summer and warm clothing for winter.

- Area prone to sudden weather changes.

PLEASE NOTE: the rates are subject to the number of adults and children staying. Quotes will include the 1% Community Levy, but will exclude daily conservation fees, which are to be paid directly to camp on arrival.

"Basotho Village is in a beautiful part of the park, so anyone looking for nature and views will enjoy it. Accommodation is decent, although no frills. The place quite badly requires maintenance though. When we arrived, our toilet wasn't flushing, water from taps was just a triple due to debris in the pipes, Weber braai with utensils wasn't there at all. Once we mentioned those problems, they were sorted out (except the toilet, which did not work properly for another day). The restaurant on site is not fully functional (not open for dinner) so make sure you bring food."

"Place was really nice, the only problem was that we did arrange for our room to be available because we were going to arrive late. When we got there other people was staying in our room and it took a while for us to get another room. <br/><br/>The rooms were very nice though and the staff was very nice."

"Very clean and well maintained. The kitchen and the bathroom cannot be complained of. One problem was the bird's nest just above the door. I had to be attacked several times by the parent birds who tried to protect her babies in the nest. I almost had to crawl whenever going in and out of the door. It seriously disturbed my rest outside."

"+ heel leuk huisje met kookmogelijkheden en braai.Uitzicht is echt fantastisch, bergen en wildebreast en zebra's als uitzicht.- extra toegangskosteb voor het park 10,= p.p per dag en services is slecht. Na 5 geen receptie en de sleutel was niet aanwezig."
