"All we can say is WOW! What a wonderful experience! From the drive into Golden Gate and making our way up to Highlands Lodge we were in for the most spectacular views, incredible bird sightings and sounds and by far my favourite the most amazing display in the evenings - the Milky Way and the stars were just showing off!!The lodge is situated high up on the side of the mountain looking out over the vast, uninterrupted, undulating hills. Sunset, just exquisite (and i have to admit that the cold weather just added to the experience). Sitting on the veranda keeping warm round the braai in the evening all the while the inside fire keeping the lodge cosy and warm. For those who feel the cold more than normal there is an oil heater in the bedroom and an electric blanket which is more than sufficient to keep the cold at bay.The lodge could do with a few minor fixes (kitchen cupboard door & bedroom doors need to be fix) and the fridge is tiny (a family of 4 would battle to fit all the necessities) but other than that is was a magnificent stay and i highly recommend you pay them a visit."

"Waking up and see The Best View ever is what the retreat is all about. Absolutely must do again. But also some negatives.... - Even in November the cabin is cold - Not enough light in the kitchen to really see what you are cooking."

"The wooden cabins are great with a lot of facilities and great views. Our stay was too short. At least two nights would be ideal. Be sure to visit the vulture feeding nearby."
