  "The place is ideally situated for holiday makers .No sound of cars . The only sound was that of birds which soothes the entire body physically and emotionally. I do recommend for other guests for holiday or business .There are some unknown little creatures which also share the cottage with the visitors . They pee and leave some faeces in one bed room all over the place i.e on the floor and on the be. This is the only evidence that one could conclude about the existence of these creatures. There is dirt on the floor and this is not easily picked up unless one walks without shoes on the floor.The whole feet pick up this dirt and looks like as if one was walking on the dried greased floor"

  "These are the things my parents needed and received and so they had a wonderful 5 day break with their 9 yr old grandchild at Eagles Rest. The cottage is spacious, cool and has a stunning vista looking down over the tree tops towards the river. It was beautifully clean and had everything they needed including a lovely old cat. Thank you Sherrol. They will definitely be back."

  "When we arrived, the host did not even know we coming! She told us to go find a coffee shop and wait there so she can prepare the place - this after flying from Cape Town to PE and then driving to Gonubie....all in one day with a 3 year old toddler. When we eventually was given access it was way past 7pm. My wife immediately bathed our grandson, while I unloaded. By this tme we saw the true state of this place - it was filthy - it actually is not fit for human habitation. There was rat poop lying all over the floors and on all the window sils. There was gecko poop on all the walls. The cutlery and crockery was sticky and dirty. We love thatch roofs - but this place has hessian fitted as ceilings in some places and this was so filthy the dirt was busy falling and hanging from the hessian. The cover of the fan was so dirty that it looked as if it was rusted, but actually it was the filth. Fortunately we brought our own sheets as well - so as it was extremely late by now we just slept in our own bedding. The next morning we decided to leave immediately we where suppose to stay 12 nights - which we paid in full well in advance. We tried to located the owner to video her while showing her the place - but she already left for work. She said that she knew about the gecko poop and if we wait till late afternoon, then she will again clean the place. We were not prepared - we demanded a full refund of our money - as this place really was not fit for any human to live in. The owner agreed to refund us as soon as we send her our banking details. My wife took a video of the whole place - which we also intend to send to the Toursim Council, as the place has a tourism grading. I then emailed her our banking details and also asked her for my shoes and my wives jacket which we by accident left in the cupboard. She then acknowledged my email - saying she will look for the clothes and let me know.....this is now nearly 2 weeks later and are still waiting. She then also said that she used our payment already and have no money and will repay us whenever she can get money again. I only are giving this place a 1 star, because the site does not give me an option to rate it a NIL - which is what it actaully deserve. I also hope that SafariNow will remove this listing - it is giving them a bad name to market such a bad place, and I have been booking many many places through SafariNow and always only got good service - but this place is a disgrace!!!"

  "Many thanks to Sherrol for being the perfect hostess and for a most relaxing stay. We couldn't have asked for anything better, beds were comfy and warm and the ambiance and view just magnificent. We woke up to the sound of many birds and also had afternoon tea with the resident monkeys (which are a delight and no nuisance at all). All in all I would recommend it to any visitor looking to relax in an atmosphere of tranquility and beauty in Gonubie. Thank you for the lovely memories!"

  "We are a family of 4 and we spent 4 nights at Eagle's Rest. The owner was friendly and made us feel very welcome. The cottage is rustic but comfortably and elegantly furnished. It has an open living room with kitchen, 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom with bath and a second bathroom with shower. The cottage is situated in a very quiet residential area within walking distance from the Gonubie River. Be prepared to put up with geckos and plenty of ants, since it is surrounded by bush. The view from the balcony is magnificent and every morning we were awoken to a variety of birdsong. All in all, we had a pleasant and peaceful stay."

Sherrol is a gracious host and she even left milk and biscuits out for our use.You will find everything you need here and the kitchen is very well equipped. She even has some dvd's available to watch. We had some lovely feathered visitors as well. I would determinately recommend Eagles rest for anybody visiting Gonubie."
