28 Stones Hill B&B is situated in the tranquil, country suburb, Stones Hill, which is only 6 km from Grahamstown's city centre. Originally a farm and holiday destination for Grahamstown Settlers, Stones Hill offers magnificent views for 30 km over the coastal plain to the sea. We boast the only accommodation establishment in Grahamstown to offer a sea view.
With a home away from home feeling, 28 Stones Hill B&B offers guests a peaceful setting with vast lawns, a dam, old Palm and Oak trees, abundant birdlife and excellent accommodation. We cater for families, travellers and business guests with our rooms offering all the modern conveniences expected, like DSTV, kitchenettes and wireless internet access. The rooms are a tasteful fusion of modern and african decor with slate stones tiles, king size beds and space for a third person if required. We also have two interleading rooms for families.
You can enjoy our awesome breakfasts on the farmstyle balcony, accessed from your room, while taking in the beautiful view to the sounds of birds in the morning.
28 Stones Hill is perfectly situated between Port Elizabeth and East London to explore this wonderful area, being close to Port Alfred and Bathurst and to a number of big 5 reserves. Mountain biking and hiking trails can start from the property or spend time exploring the history and culture of Grahamstown with it's abundant museums, the 1820 Settlers Monument& and perhaps a township tour.
"The owner was very welcoming. Unfortunately there is no fan so we had to sleep with windows and door open. This meant quite a few mosquitoes and bugs. Only 2 coffee bags was supplied and we had to remind about milk. The shower was the highlight for me, very lovely and the lovely borehole water was a big bonus"
"Breakfast is advertised but not given."
"The blurb on the website says enjoy our breakfast etc. but it has been changed to a guesthouse from a B&B - this should be updated in the website and on the in-room information folder.Otherwise a very pleasant stay."
"The lady who was helping us was very friendly and did everything we asked from her. Its just that I have forgotten her name. Thank you so much to her."
"Mike was very helpful and friendly. The gardens are beautiful and view great. The rooms is large and everything needed is there.Unfortunately the housekeeping needs attention as the soap in shower was used and empty sachet was left there and used yogurt cup was in cutlery drawer. As we arrived late and left early this was not discussed with establishment, I do believe this was oversite on cleaning crew. This is not five star but for price very good deal. I would stay here again."
"Good water pressure, clean well appointed rooms and bathrooms"
"It's nice and quiet, away from the buzzing of traffic. Very good to relax. They can improve by having DSTV"
"Nice braai area, quiet area."
"We enjoyed being out of town but within easy driving distance. Ideal for staying with kids, and good value for money. Everyone we dealt with was friendly and accommodating. We will be back"
"We did not enjoy our stay at 28 stones because the room was dusty and there was something wrong with there plumbing system. When one took a shower the water leaked into the bedroom carpet and it was smelling all night long. The fridge was not working."
"There was a miscommunication. When I booked with Safarinow.com I booked for 2 adults, 1 baby and 1 child. But anyway adrea made arrangements for a matress on our arrival. The room was nice warm beautiful. The cleaner doesn't clean proper. She did not change our linen. Otherwise I will come back."
"Enjoyed my stay quite and very calm place"
"We stayed for 1 night and found Stones Hill comfortable and affordable. The little kitchenette is handy and one can also braai outside the room on a communal braai overlooking the gardens.<br />"
"Very nice rooms, well equipped with a nice balcony. Unfortunately some work was being done on the balcony roof, so we couldn't make the most of it."
"Outgoing host. Nice rooms with all facilities and veranda and braai towards a well-preserved garden."
"We stayed at 28 Stones Hill for one night during the Arts Festival - it was superb! The place is squeaky clean, roomy, every possible facility at hand, fabulous breakfast, peaceful surroundings, security - everything was just right. The hostess extremely friendly and helpful. Excellent value for money compared to other establishments in town. We will look no further for our next stay in Grahamstown."
