  • "Spacious, central, well equipped, great value for money"

    10 October 2019

"We visited Great Brak River for work, so mostly showered and slept at A Bit of Home. The owners were on leave but their friendly daughter and a neighbour welcomed us and also checked a couple of times whether they could assist with anything. We found the two-bedroom apartment pleasantly spacious, extremely clean and neat and the kitchen is well equipped. We have no complaints. The neighbourhood is quiet but you do hear the traffic passing on the R102 about 300, 400 metres away, plus due to a technical glitch with the solar geyser the warm water temperature never went above 31C, but it was sorted out the minute the owners returned. This is great value for money."

  • "Fantastic Weekend"

    05 March 2017

"We were on our way to PE and six of us decided to stay at Groot Brak at "Bit of Home" We took both units and we were greetd by Maureen who was so friendly and accomodating. We later met Frik her husband who is fantastic and we had a long chat. They were fantastic hosts . Accomodation was fantastic. The place was immaculate and clean. The scenery from the balcony is fantastic as well. We had a lovely braai on the Saturday night and my cousin and her husband joined us. Lovely evening and we hope that we did not disturb our hosts but they said it was great to hear us having such fun. what more can you ask from your hosts. I would recommend a BIT OF Home to anyone wanting to stay at Groot Brak. Maureen and Frik thanks again for a wonderful weekend. Five star accomodation."

"<p>We had a very pleasant stopover on the way to Cape Town from East London. The accommodation is basic, clean and tidywith a big shower with plenty of hot water. A good view of the mountain and the Golf Estate from the new timber deck. There is every thing you need and smiling Maureen is available at all times if needed. The kitchen/dining area is large with a large fridge/freezer.</p><p>We will definitely stay again when in the area. Very good value.</p><p>Regards,</p><p>Rod and Avy Drayton</p>"

  • "Comfortable"

    20 January 2015

"Would have enjoyed a bit of a balcony but alas there wasn't one. DSTV was not functioning so could not watch amazing cricket which did not please hubby. Otherwise all our needs were well met. Clean, comfortable with all kitchen appliances one could possibly need. Was perfect for our needs for a weekend stay. Close to shops, town and beach on the Island. Weather was great which helped. Owner, pleasant and welcoming."

"Neat, tidy and well equipped (but didn't have dinner plates, only side plates, which was rather strange). Pleasant surroundings and lovely view of golf course. Had own DSTV. Would have been great to have braai facilities on the wooden deck overlooking golf course, but we could braai downstairs. Lovely, friendly owners!"
