Situated just off the N4, known as the Platinum Highway, the little town of Groot Marico lies between Zeerust and Rustenburg. The town Groot-Marico is named after the Groot-Marico river, one of the few perennial rivers in this area. It is the ideal place to come to when you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city life.

Groot Marico is small. Blink and you will miss it. But a visit here is almost imperative. There are some enchanting old buildings, including the Information Centre tucked off the main road behind a wall built by Italian prisoners of war during World War II, and a good place to stop to find out local information and a place.
Kearneys Guest Farm is situated in the heart of the Marico Bush Veld surrounded by breath taking nature and the Marico river runs through the lower part of the farm.

We are situated just 13 km from Groot Marico. Come and enjoy a relaxing weekend in a private setting.

Groot marico is ideal for tree spotting and bird watching as it has 178 tree species and 360 bird species. With the river within walking distance from the house, taking a stride through the green bush fields with surrounding cliffs to the river makes this the ideal place to come unwind and rejuvenate yourself. The eye, Marico oog, is situated 20 km away from Kearneys. It is a crystal clear eye, approximately 17 meters deep, ideal for snorkelling and scuba diving, or just a swim in the summer. Also 20 km from Kearneys, in the opposite direction of The Eye, is Marico Bushveld dam. The dam is ideal for fishing, water sports, skiing and sailing. There is also a Mampoer farm in the area that offers daily tours.

"It is peacefull and a lot of birds. I enjoyed the braai area the most as I am an early bird myself and enjoy my coffee listening to the birds. The house is big but needs a little TLC."

"This Guest Farm is remote so drive very slowly. Once you get there you are far from the outside world. For cell phone reception you need to hike up the hillside to the only point where there is intermittent reception. The Guest house is large and sometimes is used to accommodate 20 to 40 kids on veldschool outings....It is very rustic, but there is everything you need, in terms of a nice boma for the evening braai, a well stocked kitchen - utensils, gas cooker and electricity, lighting and fridge and freezer and for hot water a donkey. There is a small dam with a canoe and braai area and a scenic river (Vanstraatensvleirivier), 5 minutes walk away. This river flows into the Groot Marico. There lovely trees, birdlife and we saw monkeys on the farm and baboons in the area. A delightful herd of cows, some chickens and very helpful and friendly staff."

"Our stay at Kearney's was incredible. The house has spacious rooms with cloud 9 beds for a good nights rest after our daily adventures. The fully equipped kitchen and built in braai place in the kitchen was ideal for our family visit atmosphere. Clean bathrooms with working toilets in the middle of the Bushveld is deftly a plus point :-) The privacy you get from hiring the house with no other chalets in the 400hc farm makes you hear and appreciate all the bush-veld soundsThank your for allowing us to visit your gorgeous surroundings. There is surely something to do for everyone, with no time for a dull moment, walking routes, mountain bike routes, 4x4 routes, fishing, swimming in the river of swimming pool, or chilling on tubes on the river and the obstacle course.We will surely see you soon again"

"<p>The setting at the riverfront was exactly what we were hoping for. Amazing. Unfortunately that is a 5 min walk from the house and you dont sleep, eat, bath or braai there. The accomodation is not even worth one star. The swimmingpool is situated at the owners house and not at the guest house. You will be better off camping than staying in this house.</p>"
