Established on a 300-hectare farm at the source of a mountain stream with spectacular views, Mountain Fly Fishing offers an ideal opportunity to get away from the stress of everyday life and unwind in a relaxed and beautiful environment. Known as The Land of Silver Mists, the beautiful Magoebaskloof-Haenertsburg area of the Limpopo Province is one of the country's best kept secrets. Nestled against the Wolkberg mountain range, the area is filled with indigenous and cultivated forests, grasslands and crystal clear mountain streams.
Our establishment offers neat and cosy accommodation overlooking the serene trout waters. Our facilities are ideal for hiking, mountain biking, quad biking and bird watching, making it perfect for a family or group breakaway in the beautiful Magoebaskloof mountains.
The Magoebaskloof area has a long association with trout, with the first fish being introduced into the Broederstroom River in 1904. For over 90 years brown trout, and later rainbow trout, have thrived in the ideal temperatures of this northern most part of the Drakensberg Mountain Range.
Please note rates for children: one - five years old pay a fix rate of R95.00 and six - 12 years old pay a fixed rate of R188.00.
"The view was wonderful, accommodation was clean, comfortable and had enough warm bedding. The road access(dirt road) was problematic in places and took some careful driving as we were driving a normal car and the rain and mist complicated matters."
"The Loggers Cabin was brilliant. Situated high up above the other cottages and very private. Well equipped and comfortable. Lovely outside deck with lovely views. Thanks to our host, Josie for sorting it as we nearly didn't get it. SafariNow messed up the booking and booked us into Malachite cottage.... A more expensive but less well situated cottage. In addition, after I had paid the stated amount, they came back and said I owed another R 160! Despite Josieand me going back to them, we have yet to hear from anyone. The only bad thing about this booking was SafariNow and I won't be using them again."
"Place to unwind, value for money, beautiful, peaceful, friendlyPlease change the mattress Please pick up the sigarette buds all over the lovely grounds"
"We loved the ambience, the beautiful sounds of the forest."
"I would like to thank Mountain Fly Fishing for our amazing stay. Most of all I appreciate the great service we received from the owners. Most beautiful views and would definitely want to visit again."
"We had a lovely weekend stay. Cabin was warm and cozy. Lovely scenery. Great getaway."
"This is the most beautiful log cabins and the most wonderful stay. My husband and I celebrated our second anniversary at the Pygmy Cottage, and it was amazing. There is simply nothing that can beat the fire place with a glass of wine in the hand with the rain falling outside. It is just a pity our stay was so short."
"Stunning location among the trees with a view over a dam. Beautifully decorated and well equipped. Nearby to many of the local attractions. Would definitely recommend this spot."
"Our stay at the Pygmy cottage was a memorable moment in time.<div><br /></div><div>When we arrived at the cottage we were welcomed by a breath of fresh air, beautiful nature and our fishing rods were ready and waiting outside our cozy stunning cottage. Every effort was made to create a homely experience from little sachets of coffee to a small vase of flowers that was set next to the bedside.</div><div><br /></div><div>There was perfect synergy between the inside decor and outdoor-setting, they seemed to flow effortlessly to and from each other.</div><div><br /></div><div>Even though I did not catch a fish, I 'caught' a renewed appreciation for nature my partner and a revitalized spirit.</div><div><br /></div><div>Thank you for a lovely stay,</div><div>Simne Ferreira</div>"
"What a wonderful find; peace and quiet and just the most wonderful views around. We loved every moment of our stay, the unit was clean and well equipped, everything we needed was right there. They guys had a wonderful time fly fishing, and the ladies relaxed and enjoyed the peace & quiet and relaxation. Mountain Fly Fishing is perfectly located if you want to visit the sites of the near by areas and towns. Well worth the visit and we will be back again."
"All I can say is "wow, wow, wow"! Mountain Fly Fishing's setting is absolutely picturesque. We were lucky to visit when the Cherry Blossoms and Azaleas were in full bloom. Mountain Fly Fishing is a quiet retreat with mountains, dams and forests as your view. The cabins are spacious, tastefully decorated and very comfortable. As soon as you arrive you automatically unwind and you can't help but relax. I loved waking up every morning to the lovely morning chorus the birds deliver. There are dams to fly fish and lovely walking trails to explore. The quaint village of Haenertsburg is only about 15 minutes away. We will definitely be back!"
"The time of year was great with all the flowers, the unit "Kingfisher cottage" was great (with all necessary things) - can really recommend it"
"Thanks to the team for making our weekend away a great experience. Highlyrecommended. Good Accommodation, stunning venue and excellent service. Good value for money."
"What a lovely stay. Peace and quiet. We enjoyed the fact that there is no electricity."
"I needed accommodation specifically for the SA Orienteering champs so was not expecting to be so totally chilled out. My son really enjoyed the fishing and I found it to be a perfect spot to just get away from it all. I would definitely recommend it. Next time I will leave the kids behind and bring my wife for a romantic weekend."
"The accommodation was great and the facilities are really nice. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay."
"The cottage was nice and spacious. We enjoyed our stay as it was a very adventurous area. The dirt road leading to Mountain Fly Fishing is pretty bad as is the early morning fog, but that all adds to the feeling of adventure."
