The Hanover is a modern, luxury hotel situated in Hanover, Northern Cape, ideally halfway between Cape Town and Johannesburg on the N1. The first hotel to be acquired by The Sauer Group, its sets it apart with the same offering of style and comfort to please any traveller. Newly renovated rooms that overlooks the lush garden & swimming pool is designed by keeping the Karoo environment in mind. All meals can be enjoyed at The Hanover Bistro and don't forget to visit The Hanover Bar for a nightcap.
The Hanover is the only example of an Art Deco styled building in the town where the mostly typical Karoo-style architecture dating from the 1800's makes for an interesting stroll around the town - the Dutch Reformed Church is a particularly beautiful building. The hotel provides off-street parking, child and pet friendly. Quoted rates are for bed only.
Optional breakfast and/or a Karoo-style set dinner are served in our dining room on request.
"The Hanover Lodge Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. We stayed over for one night, and although the hotel and furnishings need some TLC, everything was clean. We had dinner and the food was excellent. Maybe the owners could just provide their guests with an updated water supply notice (not that small printed notice on the bathroom mirror). Thank you."
"The shower doesnt work instead it sprinkles very soft water which makes one take long. You didnt warn me about mosquite, I could have brought mosquito repellent otherwise the room was clean and can not falter the power failure"
"the bed was very soft and could do with replacing."
"A bath would be nice"
"We could not stay in Hanover hotel it was just so bad, but the positive is that we drove further and Marina''s guesthouse on Safaris website too accommodated us. Wow fantastic is all I can say. I phoned them 10.30 at night, they were friendly and accommodating, they waited for us until 11.30, Saag gave us the secure parking we requested. The unit self was perfect, neat, clean. It was such a relief to be able to sleep there after 12 hours on the road and our scary experience in Hanover .<div><br /></div><div>I will definitely sleep there again and recommend it to everybody I know.</div><div><br /></div><div>A Big thanks to Saag.</div>"
"Hi,<div><br /></div><div>I would like a refund for the R900.00 I paid please. I did not sleep there. I specifically asked for secure parking when I booked and said we will have a big trailer. I was told that there were secure parking for the trailer. Not true, we would have had to park in the street had we stayed there. 10 o clock at night the street in front of the hotel where we were supposed to park were full of drunk people, drunk people were in and out of the hotel all the time. Our room were next to a room were loud music was playing all the time. I was horrified to think that a place like that actually advertises for people to stay there.</div><div><br /></div><div>I always use safari whenever I travel, this time I would really appreciate it if you pay my money back please as there were no ways I would have slept in that place.</div>"
"Interesting little town. Reception was friendly. Rooms were clean. <br />"
"Reading through the other ratings I was extremely sceptical about staying over here... I booked a deluxe unit and can hapilly report that the ratings are either outddated or malicious. You can find things wrong or identify improvement items at any establishment but lets look at the basics; everything was clean and neat, from the road infront of the establishment, the sidewalk, the entrance, the dining rooms, the hallways, the bar, our deluxe unit to the parking area, garden and pool. It would actually have been nice to stay over for a second night! The food (meal of the day) was absolutely excellent, like mom would have made it, it was so nice I would've loved larger portions because it was that good! Definate recommended for a stay over lovely old school charm, clean, neat and relaxed!"
"The hotel is overly priced for a 2 star place, and I also believe its a 1 star. The room smelled like cigarettes. Bathroom need a lot of maintenance. Will not recommend the place to anyone."
"The staff was friendly, the room was comfortable and the food tasty. I will definitely stay here again."
"Coming from abroad we had so far experienced very suitable places to stay in SA. This is out of kilter for us. It may suit others but we gave it a by and moved on to De Aar. Has to be said that the landlord directed us to that village, assume we were probably not the first to inquire for options."
"We stayed at Hanover Lodge and found the staff to be friendly but the room and food totally overpriced. The Garden Suite was in need of repair - broken taps, torn curtains, bats in room, one socket for whole room. The food was ok but expensive. We have stayed at NPB Lilydale and Karoo and found them a much better option. NPB Karoo cost less for 3 of us - accommodation in a different league and breakfast included."
"I stayed at Hanover Lodge Hotel on a road trip from CT to JHB (January 2014). The food was excellent and it was an airconditioned oasis in the Karoo. Good stop on a long journey."
"We felt welcome and was treated with great hospitality. Personel went out of their way to accommodate our specific needs for toddler."
"A little oasis full of history, a great bar, awesome hospitality and good food!"
"I was four hours delayed on my trip to Cape Town from Johannesburg. I called the staff to advise them that I will only book in at at 21h00. I got there, dead tired, and they had kept supper for me and delivered it to my room with a jug of ice cold water, as I requested, and treated me like a daughter. Awesome little place - not a hotel, a home."
"Very pleasant, comfortable and well priced accommodation. A hearty breakfast and a most interesting pub decorated with Karoo sheep farming history. A very pleasant place to break the road trip between Durban and Cape Town."

"We had a great time at the Hanover Lodge. It was great for my family. They provided awesome service including a special late check-in/dinner for my family, and a tour of the very charming small town of Hanover. The rooms were very cute, homely and clean. I enjoyed my time in Hanover very much and would stay at Lodge again in an instant."

"The staff were very friendly and helpful, going out of their way to please everybody. Although it is a very small town, it has a lot of history, on our second night over on our way back to Joburg we spent some time to walk around and meet some of the residence.A very nice place for a stopover, but not longer than that especially with kids."
