Where The River Runs...

Where The River Runs... is a self-catering farm house situated just outside of Harrismith, en route to the magnificent Northern and Central Drakensberg. We cater specifically for groups between 4 and 10 people who wants to use the farm as their base when hiking, mountain biking and fishing in the vicinity. We are 3 kms from the Sterkfontein dam, 20 kms outside Harrismith en route to the Drakensberg.

The 250-hectare farm is owned by a local family that wanted to share the experience of an unpretentious, tranquil breakaway with other like-minded people. Whether it be exposing the children to a wonderful farm environment, a group of friends that meet halfway between Johannesburg and Durban or a family reunion, Where The River Runs... is sure to create a desire to return again and again.

The comfortable four-bedroom house offers affordable accommodation for up to ten people and features a fully equipped kitchen, a large dining room with a 12-seater table, and a sunny lounge with fireplace that opens out onto the veranda where spectacular views of the farm and surrounding area can be enjoyed.

Guests have full access to the farm to enjoy long walks and are welcome to bring their mountain bikes or motorbikes along. There is plenty to do in and around the area, with the Sterkfontien Dam a short distance away, several tourist attractions in the nearby Drakensberg area, and Clarens a picturesque part of the world to visit.

"Situated midway between Joburg & Durban, this spacious well equipped rustic farmhouse was good for a comfortable casual weekend away. Apart from the dam, there isn't much to do right there. The house is very clean , is child friendly & the kitchen is very well equipped. Directions perfect."

"We were a group of seven people who recently visited this establishment and it really met and succeed our expectations! It reminded me of my childhood visits to my family on their farm.<div><br /></div><div>The house is big and roomy, and very well stocked with everything you can require in the kitchen and bedrooms. Most bedrooms had and extra single bed that can be used for kids. This house can easily accommodate a large group of people. It was clean and in very good condition. It has a comfortable veranda overlooking a large well-kept lawn that's perfect for playing sport or just relaxing. The owners were very friendly and professional; they live on the farm next door, so they were not in the way at all, but still close enough to contact should we require anything.</div><div><br /></div><div>This is a perfect base for exploring the area or just to relax and unwind for a couple of days.
