Situated at the foot of the majestic Magalies Mountains, Morubisi Bush Lodge offers a great bushveld holiday in a tranquil setting. It is just a short distance away from Johannesburg and Hartbeespoort, and is ideal for nature lovers.
This lovely lodge has eight comfortably furnished chalets, of which all have a variety of bed configurations and en-suite or private bathrooms. Each chalet also has its own boma and braai area, ideal for enjoying meals while listening to the sounds of nature all around.
There are five safari tents for guests who wish to appreciate the natural surroundings to the fullest. There is also a spacious dormitory for large groups hoping to learn more about biodiversity.
Our Bush Cottage is ideal for a group or family of six. Comfortably furnished, the cottage has a small kitchenette, a boma and a deck to enjoy the bush views and sunsets.
The lodge is owned and operated by Owl Rescue Centre, a non profit organisation dedicated to the protection of all owl species. The income from your bookings pay each month towards a home to hundreds of rehabilitated owls. This means that you are directly contributing to owl conservation!
The founders of the Centre, Brendan and Danelle, had a dream to purchase a piece of land for the owls, a sanctuary where they will be protected and looked after. A piece of habitat that will always belong to them. The lodge is helping us to accomplish this.
Guests can look forward to truly immersing themselves in the rugged beauty of the area, learning about conservation and just simply enjoying a memorable bushveld getaway.
"Nothing much since is a bush life but I was afraid of the rat but is okay"
"I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. We were moved to a chalet that had hot water and all the comforts we needed. We were very happy and felt safe. Dogs however have to be kept away from roaming around the chalets."
"The place is simple and nice on the outside, I think they MUST consider fixing the floors nd bathrooms of the chalets, maybe tile the floors nd the bathrooms so that it can easily be cleaned, the bathroom was smelling pee , terrible smell nd that smell for a room which is R1000 a night was not worth it hence we decided to spend our week out in the neighborhood as the neighborhood has great places nd scenery."
"My Friends and I were experiencing the Bush Life for the first time, and i must say we really enjoyed ourselves. The Staff is really Friendly and Brandon is a really nice and patient guy. I think though that there should be proper navigation when hiking. Thanks for the great experience."
"Family Chalet was clean, tidy. Though it is right by the main gate it was still private and quiet. <br/>Kids loved the open space and bush walk to the rock pools. <br/><br/>Peaceful and a great weekend getaway!<br/>"
"Stayed there from 29 December 2016 for 3nights after paying over R5000. The bush environment was the only nice thing. The bedding waa bad, breakfast was same things for all the days.<br/>The place doesn't appear to be safe as the entrance gate waa always opened for everyone to enter and no security at the gate.<br/><br/>Except tor the bush environment that we like, everything else was poor. Not worth R5000. Not to be repeated again even at half price"
"Morubisi Bush Lodge is a great weekend escape form everyday city life. We enjoyed the peaceful surrounds with only birds to keep us company. Learning about what the Owl Rescue Centre does and seeing the owls was a real treat. Very friendly staff. Will be visiting again."
"We had a fantastic stay. Quite, peaceful and enjoyed the sounds of nature as well as the fresh air. To get away from the City, this is the perfect place, Staff was very friendly and helpful. Lots to see and do at the Lodge and surrounding areas. Everything was clean and will suggest this place to anybody who needs a break away from the City noise. Will go back soon."
"We had and awesome experience at Morubisi Lodge. It was peaceful and the staff was friendly. We will definitely make a booking again"
"I would not go to Morubisi lodge ever again, the firts night someone basically robbed us, stole all my clothes shoes, a tablet and shoes of my my brothers kits, they came trough the net that serves as the windows, after looking at the nets it looks like its a regular thing because there is a lot of spot were the nets was repaired.<br/>So yeh guys that go there must be very carefull, I am just glad that they just took the stuff and left us alone.<br/>That said yes Morubisi will never see me and any of my Family members again."
"We enjoyed our stay at the lodge. Perhaps the following could be taken into consideration: <br/>a microwave and 2-plate stove would be great, and additional cutlery such as a frying pan, dish for meat when you braai, basic Tupperware to be able to prepare a salad etc."
"We had to check in late and Brendan was very accommodating - even upgrading us to a chalet instead of a tent which was a nice surprise. The place was clean and comfortable and waking up to the sounds of the bush was very relaxing. The owl center could have been better explained and we would have loved to be shown the Owls by a professional rather than just looking at them ourselves. All in all a great couple nights away from the hustle and bustle of jhb!"
"We had the best weekend stay at this Lodge with it's African Bush feel. It's beautiful and should even be better in summer time after some rain. Thanks to Brandan and staff for a wonderful weekend. We'll be back."
"Lovely "Bushveld atmosphere" For someone that loves nature<div>Close to Pretoria</div>"
"Had a great time at the lodge. Simple but just lovely!"
"Really informative with the Owls and they really are special animals.<div>Restaurant operates as per order but the food was really nice.</div><div>Had a really nice rest and awesome time.</div><div><br /></div>"
"Very disappointed in the way that we where received by management at the lodge. Not even making an effort to help making way towards the lodge. Sleeping tents not in a good condition. Breakfast table not clean and in the heat of the day warm drinks.Ice would work.I would not recommend anyone to your lodge."
"WOW If you really want to get away and into the bush, the tented camp at Morubisi Bush Lodge is the place to go. The camp sites are all in a short walking distance to the pool and bar area and the owners and staff are an absolute pleasure. This was our first bush experience and we would do it again in a heart beat. Thank you Morubisi Bush Lodge for making our family get away an absolute delight and one of our best memories !!! :)"
"We had an awesome weekend. Mishap first night, which was resolved when we were moved to a lovely chalet for second night. We wish Morubisi Bush Lodge wonderful growth & will stay there again. Helen, Claudette, Pat & Suezy"
"morubisi is a place very far away from everything,we enjoyed everthing about it."
"My hubby and I spent the weekend at Morubisi Bush Lodge and thoroughly enjoyed it. We spent the first night in a Safari Tent and the second night in a chalet. The weather was definately not playing along as it was cold and rainy for the most part. However, I have to commend our hosts, the owners, on their excellent service. They went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable even through the depressing weather. They added a personal touch to their service, which really made our weekend. They provided something which you don't usually find in Hotels and lodges. They made us feel welcome and as though we were their only guests. They bent over backwards to cater for our needs and that i will never forget. The warmth of their service reflects that they are not out their just to make money. Their main aim is raising money, not for themselves, but for animals who don't have a voice, animals whocan't protect themselves. I have to congratulate them on the excellent, selflesswork they are doing, protecting our owls. The world needs more people like you guys. I highly recommend Morubisi Bush Lodge to anyone who is looking for an amazing stay in nature. The safari tents are perfect for those looking for a more rustic adventure, and the chalets offer a perfect haven for those looking for something more comfortable and luxurious. Thanks again guys for the great weekend, we'll definately be back!!"
"OUR STAY AT MORUBISI BUSH LODGE WAS AMAZING! EVERYTHING IS SO CLEAN AND SET UP SO NICELY! I CANNOT WAIT TO BOOK MY NEXT STAY. THEY COULD ENCOURAGE MORE ACTIVITIES TO BE DONE AT THEIR LODGE BUT OTHER THAN THAT IT IS A THUMBS UP FROM OUR SIDE! THANK YOU <br />"
"Quite rustic, but very comfortable and clean! Hosts are very welcoming and friendly and do everything they can to make your stay as cosy and pleasant as possible. The hot chocolate whilst watching the rugby was the cherry on top! Just loved all the donkeys and piggies roaming around.<div><br /></div><div>Thank you for a really lovely and relaxing weekend and we will be sure to return!!</div>"
"Never again Place is run down and even the basics are not basic Internet advert misleading"
"Beautiful place to spend a couple of days, peaceful retreat. We thoroughly enjoyed the hiking in the mountain. Hosts were very helpful. Beds comfortable, but cooking facilities limited but was possible to borrow a microwave or toaster if you wanted. Good breakfast to set us up for the day."
