We were doing a ride through on the bike and this informal place was affordable and clean. Thank you for making our stay memorable. Loved the writings on the wall."

Received good travel advice from Dennis about my visit to the Kruger National park. Will most definitely recommend."

  "We are 4 friends from the Czech Republic aged 44-52 years and Backepackers Gecko Although we spent only one night, but we were very satisfied with the services of the campsite. We felt very well there, employees or owners (do not know) were sympathetic, helpful and friendly. The overall atmosphere was relaxed, suitable places for camping and original decoration. All this at a relatively low price during the Christmas holidays. Backpackers Camping Gecko was the best of our entire trip to South Africa. Thank you. Darina and friends."

  "For me it is already a must-do. Every time I go to the Kruger I stay in Adrien's place. Food, music, friends, accommodation - everything's perfect! There was this hippo in the area! We could listen to his sounds from our room! Awesome! Signals on the road don't lie about that! Thanks Adrien!"

  "Nice rustic place. Clean, and has the basic necessities needed for a night or two. Great job Adrian. Only suggestion is that maybe a small range of braai stuff like coal and firelighters be available to buy. Most travellers arrive late and without these things. Other backpackers I've stayed at have a fire going all the time."

  "Our trip to Mpumalanga was long awaited. We were relatively well reassured with the positive feedback of Bushpackers on accommodation websites. However we did not know that the manager (selfdeclared new owner) had changed in a month, which led to an epic overnight stay involving stupidity and arrogance. The kitchen was badly stocked and its gas stove dangerously malfunctioning. The manager's possessiveness of kettles was alarming. George/"handyman" seemed to be the only one aware of service hospitality unfortunately he was bossed around by Adrian. There were security issues during the night and gunfire broke out and so the adjective "tranquil" can't really be applied to this place. Issues of payment were apparent as we had to leave the place at 6:30am which was too early for the manager to rise, so we returned later however we were delayed as the manager wanted to check the credit card payment - the lack of awareness of securing a booking by a deposit was irritating. In addition the vague excuse of the bank account been frozen and only accepting cash - made us all the more wanting to put this night to bed. Between us we have stayed in many backpackers around the world and one thing this place was severely lacking and inferior to compared to elsewhere is service and hospitality. Thank goodness for George and I hope he finds an outlet to flourish in the service industry."

  "We really enjoyed our stay at Bushpackers. The owners are very nice and help you with everything you need. The location was lovely and very close to the Panorama Route and Kruger National Park. I can highly recommend this hostel to everybody!"

  "- the room was clean and the overall decor was awesome if you want a very RUSTIC getaway. I would recommend the Bamboo room as it looks like a fun getaway, although we stayed in the Bushman room. Excellent Budget stopover. Must eat at the Hippo Hollow!!!! "

  "Camped for one night, one tent.Although told via the webpage that there would be electricity..we had no electric point for use !Showers, toilets and outside basin...very basic and sandy!!We did not receive a very friendly welcome, they did not know our name and did not know we had paid, despite us having paid in full and timeously !! No one knew we had left or enquired if we had enjoyed our stay!!Very much a take it or leave it approach"

  "Our stay was very much enjoyed except for our bathroom facilities. I must say that there was a mistake on the website of Bushpackers.The "Office Room" the room that we reserved, stated on the website that the bathroom was Private, but on our arrival we learnt that we had to share toilets and showers with the other Guests. This was very inconvenient with a 2 year old as it turned out she turned ill and had to frequently be taken outdoors to the bathrooms which worsened her condition. Only at the end of our stay after checking the website I mentioned this to Kurt who apologized. Thanks for the check-up"
