Idle & Wild

Listen to the fish eagles calling as you unwind in secluded and spacious African thatched Rondavels.Soak up the warmth of the sun around the pool or pamper yourself in the sauna. Idle & Wild is on a working macadamia nut farm in the Sabie River Valley. Each Rondavel is privately set in a sub-tropical garden. The Sabie River runs through our property and peaceful walks can be taken. A full English breakfast is served on the verandah of the main house, or should you wish to make an early start to the Kruger National Park, a packed breakfast will be provided. IDLE & WILD is ideally situated for a rejuvenating break in the heart of nature, or exploring the surrounding areas such as Kruger National Park, God's Window, Bourke's Luck Potholes, Pilgrims Rest and the many waterfalls. Hot air ballooning, game drives horse riding, skyway trails, hikes, bass fishing & cycling are just some of the activities in the area. We offer Quad Bike Trails & River Rafting on site.

"Excellent rondavel, lovely garden and setting, friendly staff. Breakfast very ordinary and should be improved. No prepared fruit as in fruit salad and cheap unappetising bread."

  • "Beautiful accommodation"

    23 November 2008

"First acquaintance of S-Africa after almost 24h travel could not be better ! We felt at ease and save immediately, very good place to start our 3-weeks trip through the country. Beautiful accommodation, overwhelmingly garden. Helpful hosts. Kruger Park, Blyde River canyon within half an hour. Summerfield kitchen nearby (1 km) is a real dining experience for moderate price. Definitely a must."

  • "Very good hospitality"

    13 June 2006

"We stayed in the cottage and enjoyed very good hospitality. This accommodation primarily focuses on tourists and as such are in a higher price category than it really deserves. Nothing obviously wrong with the accommodation, it is very neat. There could be more outside light for the braai and braai utensils were lacking. By trimming the surrounding trees, the view(from the patio) across the valley would have been perfect."

  • "Easter 2006"

  • "We loved Idle and Wild"

    01 July 2005

"Our family stayed at Idle and Wild in June05 and found it to be very pleasant. The accommodations are modern, very attractive, and tastefully decorated. Each hut/house is well separated from the others in a very large, park-like setting with beautiful gardens. It is such a lovely setting that we hated to leave. We received warm, friendly service from our hosts, and very nice breakfasts. There are numerous restaurants nearby. We recommend Idle and Wild without reservation."
