Birdsong, Hermanus sits nestled in a grove of Milkwood trees, overlooking the Vermont Saltpan, which is a bird sanctuary. There are solar panels on the roof so loadshedding is no longer a problem. The four bedroom, three bathroom house is fully equipped for six people. This house is the ideal location for nature lovers wanting to relax away from the city. The house has a fully-equipped kitchen, and a spacious dining and lounge area with TV, DSTV . The living area has a wood-burning stove creating a cozy atmosphere in the house. The large verandah at the front of the house has a built in braai and offers spectacular views towards the mountains and across the lake. This is an ideal birdwatching spot. A grove of Milkwood trees at the back offers a cool place to shelter from the summer sun. The pan is fed from the mountain runoff and from rain and therefore the water level changes from season to season depending on the past rainfall. The house is a short stroll from the ocean tidal pool and only 10 km away from Hermanus which offers great beaches, mountain walks, markets, and many fine restaurants. The area has many nearby vineyards offering wine tasting. There is also an opportunity to play golf at one of two top golf courses. The area is known as one of the best land based whale watching destinations in the world. Our display rate is the minimum rate per night for four people. An additional per person rate will be charged if booking more than four people.

13 September 2020"What a little gem we found in Birdsong! The verandah is the ideal place to watch the setting sun whilst having your favourite tipple. I am very particular about bedding, and I am very happy to say that I was pleased with the crisp, clean linen and good quality pillows. The house is well equipped with every convenience you may need and more! The shaded garden with tree swings was a hit with the kids! The little path around the soutpan is awesome for a quick stroll with the kids. The location lends itself to getting some exercise as well by taking a brisk walk to beach and small tidal pool where the kids can romp and expend some energy. All in all, a firm favourite for us that warrants a return in the future!"

21 May 2014"The house is in such a good condition and spotless. Not a thing lying around and everything is extremely clean. It really is a dream home away from home. We enjoyed the sunset view from the veranda and listening to the sound of the birds chirping as well as the bustle of the trees. A wonderful experience for nature lovers! Birdsong Cottage offered us so much relaxation and the Sunday afternoon just absorbed and enjoyed the sun on the green grass.This house really is fully furnished you dont have to bring anything! Boredom is not an option, because even board games are provided. I personally think that for everything this place offers you get much MORE for the rates you pay. Thank you to John, Daphne and Lyn."
