Bancroft B&B is situated in Hilton, in the forested, evergreen hills above Pietermaritzburg, the capital of Kwazulu-Natal. Offering three extremely comfortable, luxury B and B suites, with DStvs commercial bouquet, a hospitality fridge, tea and coffee-making facilities, fans, heaters and free Wi-Fi.
The Family suite has two bedrooms, the master bedroom with a king-size bed and the other with twin beds. Sleeping up to four people. The Double Suite has twin beds or a king-size whichever is preferred, sleeping up to two people. The Upstairs Double Suite has a queen-size bed, sleeping two people.
We serve a hearty English breakfast or a health breakfast and endeavour to cater for special needs and preferences. Vegetarians and Vegans welcomed. Juicing available at additional cost and dinners on request.
Bancroft B&B is close to private schools like St. Annes and Hilton College, Cowan House, and also Cedara Agricultural College. Five minutes to the soon to be opened Hilton Hospital, 10 minutes from the City Centre and at the start of the Midlands Meander. We are conveniently situated near all the main routes, and being on the R103, we are very easy to find, Oribi Airport is 15 km away, Durban is about an hours drive and the magnificent Drakensberg Mountains are 1.5 hours away.
Not to be missed is The Royal Agricultural Show grounds are just 5 minutes drive away. Bancroft is on the doorstep of Worlds View which is a riding hotspot for Down Hill and Off Road Bikers and the surrounding country side offers some of the most wonderful Off Road Dirt Bike terrain you can find anywhere.

14 July 2010"Had a great stay at Bancroft in the lovely colonial style home of Tina and Alan who were such great hosts. They could not do enough for us, even treating us to a home cooked traditional South African dinner. The rooms were spacious and luxurious in a very pleasant area of Pietermaritzburg. We were sent us off each morning with a cracking breakfast which will long be remembered. Alan and Tina were also kind enough to allow us to come back for an additional night at very short notice."

"A Home Away From Home"
20 July 2008"The Bancroft Bed and Breakfast was truly a "home-away-from-home" experience for me! I stayed 3 days with the Wagener family, and they made me feel right at home the moment I walked through the door! Tina and Ema even met Hanan and I at a gas station and escorted us back to their home, as I had just completed the Comrades Ultra Marathon in Pietermaritzburgh.The hospitality was truly above and beyond the copious B&Bs I've stayed at in the United States.I particularly enjoyed Ema's homemade soup she made, as it was so delicious!The rooms and beds were very well decorated and had a very warm-cosy ambiance to them.The second night Alan and Tina moved us into the master-guest bedroom, which was even more stunning than the first room.The entire stay was truly lovely.I would highly recommend the Bancroft to anyone looking for an enjoyable stay with a beautiful family. "
