The Knoll Guest Farm

The Knoll Historic Guest Farm is situated at the gateway of the Midlands Meander close to Pietermaritzburg. Set on a hill where its cool and airy in summer and mysterious and misty in winter, Hilton is home to hedgehogs, hobbits and the odd myth. Experience history and culture as you gaze down into the valley and across the distant Drakensberg. We offer a variety of accommodation options to suit all guests in peaceful surroundings.

All the rooms are characterfully decorated with some offering views over the forest and mountains. Relax in our beautiful garden or go for a forest walk on the property. For the adventurous traveller, the area offers many different activities such as mountain biking, horse riding, canopy tours, fishing, golf and bird watching.

We have 9 units on the farm, these are for our premier rooms. Additionally, for budget travelers, there is the Bunk House unit capable of accommodating 10 guests. This unit features 5 rooms, each equipped with 2 single bunk beds. Guests staying in the Bunk House can enjoy shared kitchen facilities and a barbecue area, as well as shared showers. For the adventurous souls, there are also two outdoor showers to add a unique touch to their stay.

"We arrived near dark and were warmly greeted by Niki who showed us to our accommodations and told us a bit about the activities in the area.We spent the weekend in and out of our room, busy with a friend's wedding preparations and sight-seeing. All the time we were out we felt at ease that "home" was waiting.Our two busy little children were welcome and we didn't feel as though we had to reign them in. The wide open space that the farm provides gave them place to move."

"On safarinow, groenskloof room 4 is advertised as a family room. I booked it and came with my wife and two young kids but it was not a family room. Groenskloof 5 is. The pictures however of the room is accurate, it's just that the word description of the room is inaccurate. Technically I paid less for my stay but I assure you I'd rather have paid more and slept comfortably. Whether safarinow is responsible for the information displayed or its knoll's to vet the information displayed, I am uncertain but I am keen it's ironed out.<br/><br/>Otherwise beautiful setting, lovely garden and I want to come back again and take that family room. <br/><br/>Dr Mahadeva"

"We enjoy the casualness of The Knoll. However we booked the Family Room with a loft, although we were told (after we'd confirmed the booking but before we arrived) that we'd been allocated another room, it was disappointing not to have the family unit requested.<div><br /></div><div>The rooms, whilst adequate and comfortable are not soundproofed. Noisy Neighbours on both sides were a constant disturbance throughout the early hours of the morning.</div><div><br /></div><div>The property is gorgeous and wonderfully maintained.</div><div><br /></div><div>Should we return we'd request a stand alone or well sound proofed unit.</div><div><br /></div>"
