Nestled deep in the mountains of the Southern Drakensberg, at the foot of the spectacular Sani Pass, lies Seaforth Farm which forms part of a conservancy that borders the Ukhahlamba Drakensberg Park World Heritage Site. Seaforth Country Lodge is an original 100-year-old stone farm house that is situated 15 km from Himeville and 20 km from Underberg.
The beautiful old farm house is built of local stone and was recently restored. The house is positioned on a rise, overlooking the Mkomazana River valley and a dam. From every window there are magnificent views across the formal gardens to the little and main 'berg'. The large verandas and courtyard invite you to relax with a book or a sundowner. The lounge has a fireplace and we have a well-stocked honesty bar and a pool table. The dining room has the most spectacular views of the 'berg'. All rooms have underfloor heating and two have their own fireplaces for the chilly winter months. Two farm cottages have been refurbished and decorated to serve as superb self-catering accommodation.
Unwind from the stress of city life in these peaceful surroundings. Enjoy abundant bird life, indigenous game, waterfalls, the river and trout dam and tranquil mountain views. Seaforth is the ideal base for tours up the Sani Pass and to Lesotho, as well as fly-fishing, hiking and discovering rock art. We also have a team of qualified massage and beauty therapists to add that little extra to your stay. Be sure to visit the highest pub in Africa on the Sani Pass and let the children feed our pigs, geese and goats. Upon prior arrangement, the neighbours welcome visitors to explore a dairy farm with 300 milk cows or to see honey bees in action.
"This accomodation was below par,for self catering.dirty one sidelight in bedroom no pug for TV or decoder ,dirty little braai brought down ,and the list goes on !for R1500 a night this is a complete rip off ,and I don't suggest staying there.after 12self catering establishments in the last few weeks ,this was the worst, owners get a wake up call!,,,"
"We stayed in Seaforth for one night with our children (16, 17) in July. The rooms we had were large and somewhat old but with a fireplace. During the day we had beautiful weather but in the evening it got very cold. They lit the fireplace in our rooms which was very cosy. The manager Quinten was very kind and helpful. We also had a diner which was average of quality. Next morning we had some problems with hot running water for the showers. There is no internet so for our children a bit disappointing."
"This place is beautiful. An amazing farmhouse built out of rock with the most amazing views of the Drakensberg and surrounds. Warm personal touch makes you feel at home. Can't fault anything. Little gem in the southern berg."
"Our stay was excellent and staff very pleasant. Views from this venue fantastic."
