Bushriver Lodge
Self-catering, owner-operated, 4-star accommodation in luxury units/chalets on the banks of the Olifants River, close to the Kruger National Park and a mere 25 km from Hoedspruit.
Bushriver Lodge is uniquely situated amongst the lush naturally endemic riverine vegetation and trees on the banks of the perennial Olifants River, a comfortable drive of some 25 kilometers from the town of Hoedspruit in the Limpopo Province of South Africa.
Bushriver Lodge offers guests self-catering accommodation in luxury, air-conditioned units/chalets (with fully equipped kitchens and private braai areas). The main lodge central complex has a very large wooden viewing deck that partially extends over the famous Olifants river which is home to a veritable multitude of hippos, crocodiles, fish, and water birds.
The conserved bushveld in excess of 400 hectares on which the lodge is situated is being expanded significantly with the ongoing removal of kms of ubiquitous game fencing. Under the passionate, expert and watchful eye of engineer and ecologist, owner Paul Allin and in partnership with local conservation NGOs such as Transfrontier Africa, the reserve is actively rewilding the habitat, thus significantly increasing biodiversity. The reserve offers a multitude of potential activities for guests including but not limited to, birding, self-driven game drives to view amongst others nyala, zebra, giraffe, impala and the many other game species that proliferate the reserve. For the fitness conscious, there are also several walking, running and trail running routes and a mountain biking route is also available. If you are really fortunate, you might even encounter one of the resident, territorial leopard or the pack of African wild dogs that regularly visit the reserve!

Our chalets and the main lodge are both well equipped with reliable Wifi and working areas which makes Bushriver Lodge the ideal venue for remote work. The tranquillity of the lodge enhances productivity and reduces the interruption factor greatly. 16 March 2015"Whilst the main part of the the lodge is really nice and portrays the" bush feel" the river house by comparison was very disappointing.We did not expect a blockhouse with a flat tin roof in the middle of the bush.Inside finishes are rather old and shabby.On the plus side the decks and unique pool area are lovely,the accommodation is very clean,staff friendly and helpful, but I do feel my overseas guests missed something of the African experience.The album photos only show the best part.Also a bit disappointed that there is no self drive game viewing.We had a pregnant woman in our group and the walking would have been a bit tough"
