Belmont is situated in Hogsback in the Eastern Cape. Hogsback is renowned for its natural beauty, with activities such as horse riding and hiking, a number of places to eat, tourist attractions and a general tranquillity ideal for unwinding away from the cities.
We have two upstairs rooms available, the larger Matternhorn and the smaller Eiger, with a double bunk in the smaller room making it especially suitable for children. Both rooms also have their own en-suite showers and toilets and the rooms are entirely finished in cosy pine panelling.
Belmont is a beautiful setting from which to explore the Hogsback sites and relax and unwind in blissful peace. Go for a walk amongst the pine trees, amble through the walnut bushes or just sit down for afternoon tea and enjoy our view of the Hogsback Mountains.
"Absolutely lovely . Thank you"
"The place is marketed as "pet friendly", but we were informed by the host, only after we had paid, that it is not. As such we had a problem trying to keep our dog out of the lounge area and his climbing of the steep stairs to the bedrooms/kitchen in the loft of the house. Host is very friendly. Kitchen area is rather small to work in. Due to rain, parking area was very muddy and difficult to negotiate. Property/garden is however very pretty and view from garden is really great."
"They can improve on the matrasses in the room for four. They are not comfortable at all."
"The morning mist viewed from the upstairs window was pure magic. Beautiful garden - part of the forest; we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.<br/>Tertius and Christa"
"It's difficult to form a cohesive verdict. The mattresses were absolutely terrible and need immediate replacement; the home has almost zero thermal resistance so it cooks as soon as the sun touches it in the morning; it's a very loud home, the wooden floors creak and the roof crackles loudly with temperature changes; the bathroom and kitchen awkwardly has no windows. These negatives are offset by the fabulous garden, the great host and some little details like Pantene shampoo in the shower. Overall, if you are working against a budget and if you're not planning on spending much time in the house it's probably worth it, but it's honestly not very comfortable."
"Although the host was very friendly and the house is located in a beautiful setting, the communal living area and room can do with a good cleaning. There is a single basin in the room for both washing dishes and brushing your teeth. The self catering facilities are minimal and for communal use by all guests, and there is one entrance for all guests. If you are looking for a private getaway, this is not the ideal place."
"Everything you need for a brief stopover. Pros- nice garden, friendly host.Cons- access hard for mobility challenged (older guests)."
