Situated at Hole in the Wall on the Wild Coast, Jongamanzi is set on a hill just 100 m from the beach and 10 km from Coffee Bay. This is one of the original fishermans cottages in the area, dating back to the 1940s.
The cottage consists of five bedrooms, two bathrooms with showers, a fully equipped kitchen, lounge area and braai facilities.
Offering spectacular views of the ocean, it is common to see schools of dolphins and whales in the bay. Only a five-minute walk to the landmark Hole in the Wall, the area is notable for its dramatic coastline and offers excellent fishing, safe swimming, diving, surfing, cycling and hiking.
The Hole in the Wall at Coffee Bay is a unique structure with a huge detached cliff that has a giant opening carved through its centre by the waves. The local Xhosa call this place, place of thunder. During certain seasons and water conditions, the waves clap is such a fashion that the concussion can be heard throughout the valley.
"Hole in the Wall is one of the most wonderful places in the country and ideal for a lovely holiday. But we found the accommodation inattractive, the condition of implements and crockery poor and the bedding not clean. The cottage needs attention to justify the rate. However we appreciate the fact that friendly Ntombi cleaned and opened the cottage for us for one night only. She was there when we arrived and in time the next morning so we could leave in time."
"I feel that it is very important to let future visitors to Hole in the wall/Jongamanzi know that the "scenic route" is not for sissies and you need a 4x4 should it rain. The house needs some maintenance and if it is privacy you seek, you will not get it as the locals gather outside the house every day and you will be woken every morning by somebody shouting "crayfish". The view makes it all worth while though and plenty of whales and dolphins playing in the waves."
