K9 is a unique cottage constructed with sandbags as an alternative to the conventional cement blocks. This fully equipped and open-plan cottage is situated in Hondeklip Bay, a remote village on the Namaqualand coast.The funky interior layout provides an optimal sea view while the outside area is sheltered from the prevailing south-easterly wind. An easy paced stroll westwards will take you to the mouth of the bay, from where you can explore the prolific shoreline for hours on end. K9 Cottage can accommodate two guests sharing a double bed. The cottage includes all standard amenities including a dishwasher and automatic washing machine. The sheltered location of the cottage makes it the ideal retreat for relaxing. Adjacent to K9 Cottage is the K9 Pottery studio and showroom.

30 September 2016"From the outside we wondered what we had booked, but once inside it was great. Clean and comfortable. Had everything we needed for total peace and quiet. Washing machine, dishwasher, microwave roaster, comfortable bed, cooking facilities, great couches, lots of hot water etc etc. What more could you need. <br/>Nanette was a superb and informative hostess. For something different.... this is the place to go."

We enjoyed the friendly people and the lovely scenery. Truly a place of peace and quiet. Loved the coffee shop, Uncle Sam's snoek and the Rooi Spinnekop. Would love to visit again"

"Namaqualand at the Coast"
28 December 2013"Hondeklip Bay is 180km from springbok if you take the route via komaggas (where the tar road stops and the dirt road begin) and koiingnaas. The first indication that you are on the right track is a signboard at a T-junction 20km from Hondeklip Bay. Hondeklip Bay took me by surprise, it is a small mainly coloured communitee with only one or two restaurants, bottle store and general dealerfor fuel and everything else the nearest town is Garies (88km dirt road away), so come prepared. I was taken by the peacefulness of the place, the beautiful white beaches and coastline, with two ship wrecks and a seal colony. Dont be put off by the old buildings that dont resemble much and probably last saw paint the day they were build, this place has a lot of heart and charm and the people are friendly.K9 Cottage allowed me a wonderful relaxing stay, this cottage has all you might need for a stay in the middle of nowhere, a washing machine and even a dishwasher. It is not on the beach front, but you can see the sea from this cottage and hear the waves at night and the light from the lighthouse, the beach is an easy stroll away. I spent my days just relaxing at the cottage reading, walking everywhere and taking photos, exploring the coastline and mingling with the locals.Hondeklip Bay is a special placeNamaqualand at the coast, it will definitely see me again."

11 September 2013"Overall the house was good. But the braai was disgustingly dirty, broken & unusable. The washing machine was great. The bath\shower was not good. Neither was having an empty soap dispenser. The warm duvet was great. All in all a good place but needs more care to make it really good."
