Blackwood Log Cabin

Blackwood is a self-catering log cabin that can accommodate up to four guests. It is located high up on the mountain slopes of the Hout Bay valley and offers a tranquil retreat set in two acres of indigenous garden and forest.

The cabin has two double bedrooms, one with a queen-size bed and one with twin beds. There are two bathrooms, one with a bath and one with a shower. The spacious open-plan lounge has a dining room and leads to the fully equipped kitchen. We provide linen, towels and beach towels.

Guests can enjoy panoramic mountain views of the Twelve Apostles. The wooden sun deck is wonderful for dining and the natural swimming pool has a cascading water feature. There are various koi fish ponds and there are forest and mountain walks on your doorstep. We have hammocks by the pool and a trampoline overlooking the valley.

"Colette and family have built a dream log cabin escape, perfect for couples on a romantic getaway, or families like mine. We came with our 3 year old daughter. It was more than we could have hoped for. Its not everyday you can look out and see such amazing views of lush green and the twelve apostles, from every angle of the cabin. Beautifully built with all you need for a comfortable, relaxing time. One memory which stood out for me, was my fianc bathing in the bath in the main bedroom, whilst my child was lying in the hammock. I was cooking dinner and all of us seemed so relaxed, Having come from busy England and in need of a good old switch off. I cant recommend it highly enough. Ill be back ASAP."

"On warm days it's unbearably hot inside the cabin, and there is no aircon, my whole family got ill due to this. When we arrived we saw that the braai and the grid of the braai was dirty, it was left like that till the day we left.The owners dogs come and go as they please, and altough the are super cute, they aren't as clean as you would a inside dog to be, thus sheading hair all over the place... The hair ended up in our food and drink all the time.At ou back door there was a container with broken beer bottles, sigaret buds ect that stood there throughout our stay, quite a big hazard to the investigative young spirtit.The place is very dark at night and there is not efficient lighting.It hasn't been cleaned behind the fringe and washing machine in ages. There is no light at the swimming pool, so no way of cooling down after the sun sets(we needed this).Otherwise it is stylish, and well equipped. The hosts were very nice."
