"Situated in a pretty area surrounded by fascinating rocks and wild horses.A shower would be a good addition.Unfortunately, we were unable to leave room 8 early as planned due to the front door been locked and the front door key was missing from our set. We tried contacting Sonia and Jolene to no avail."
"The main house is very luxurious and has a lot of character. The food is excellent and the lounge is great for relaxation, with an much needed fore for those chilly nights. I stayed in the rooms across the road, which are small and best suited for single travelers."
"There is nothing i would complain about. Everything was just perfect."
"I was very specific in my query about stairs - my disabled husband was however still faced with stairs! Although I understand the requirement for maintenance, I think it is an establishments duty to make the guest aware of construction sites directly outside the door so that the guest can then make an informed decision. Will unfortunately not be rushing back."
"We were very dissapointed in the person staying next door to us. The noise and swearing on Saturday night was awefull. That realy was a bad experience."
"Everything about Kaapsehoop is magical. The accommodation was affordable clean and comfortable. The bathroom door is a bit of a let down not allowing for much privacy."
"The area was stunning but the general level of facilities could have been improved upon"
"Great town, great location. The Guest house self catering units are well located and have what they need, just needs an upgrade in terms of cutlery, most plates and cutlery was dirty/stained."
"What a place. Very clean and cozy. Staff at the guesthouse was extremely friendly and helpful and the romatic dinners in the lounge was absolutely surperb. I can recommend silver mist guesthouse for a awesome and romantic getaway."
"Exceptionally clean, serene, beautiful setting. Friendly front desk chap. Affordable for me as a single mom@"
"This is Simon Evered, husband of Lesley Evered. Yes we enjoyed our stay. Big plus was the friendliness of the staff and the food, even though choice was not big. We were made welcome. However we battled a bit with the shower in our room. A small table in the bathroom would have been nice. It was nice to bring our dog, but the food we chose was mainly rice and very little mince. Best wishes Simon"
"Good location in this area. Standard room very basic and overprized. Door and windows did not close properly and it was very cold. Heater was not sufficient. Electric blankets would have been nice. Management and running of restaurant could improve."
"We had a wonderful stay at Silver Mist in one of the self catering units. Our little apartment was clean, cosy and very comfortable! The Waenhuis coffee shop at Silver Mist made AMAZING food, the lamb potjie and pancakes are a must! We really enjoyed spending time in the quaint Kaapsehoop village. There was so much to do and Silver Mist provided the perfect home base for our family."
"Stayed one night en route to Kruger NP. Booking was incorrect when we arrived - we were 4 adults & had 2 rooms booked a Twin Room & a Double Room but guest house only had 1 Double room & 2 adults on the booking. The young chap checking us in was not friendly at all & it seemed we were more of an irritatation & nuisance rather than paying guests. He wanted to give us 2 Double Rooms but my sister was travelling with her 34 yr old son so this was not appropriate at all & took some "explaining" to him as to why. With some convincing & at my sister's insistence, he ended up giving us 3 rooms. The rooms are a little dated & we were not overly happy that there was no shower, only a really small slipper bath in each bathroom which proved to be very awkward for a family of tall people. We found the beds to be extremely hard & uncomfortable & to have a tiny double size bed in a "Luxury Room" for us was quite surprising & not very pleasant.Sat downstairs by the fireplace to have drinks & found the couches very ucomfortable as all the springs have collapsed. We were not served & ended up having to go in search of the "night duty manager" who was more concerned with drinks for himself & his lady friend. We were again very surprised that breakfast was not included & we all found it to be expensive & very mediocre. The lady in the kitchen was however extremely friendly & helpful which cannot be said for the rest of the staff we encountered!Again on checking out we were not able to get an itemised invoice & were just presented with a final total with some nonsense story as to why this was the case & that "companies" prefer it this way - not sure what the relevance of that was to a family!? When my husband insisted on going through the bill it ended up being just over R300 more than what we should be paying & had to be re-done to the lesser & correct amount, so this was an irritation.Such a great pity as it is a stunning building in a superb position & has loads of potential to be something very special, but it appears to be somewhat neglected & seems that money is not put back into the business & the people running it on site do not appear to be very concerned with customer service."
"Booking through Safari had not been registered at the hotel, payments made to Safarinow were not registered at the hotel!"
"Better coffee in the rooms"
"Really great stay on Friday.... special thanks to Tiny and Mr Chef, great food and service!! Bruce"
"Service at the restaurant very slow. Food for the wedding was extremely tough. Breakfast was late on Sunday. They said 7:00 but 7:30 we were still waiting. Rooms need upgrading."
"The best , people very friendly and helpful . Rooms very nice , food and bar excellent ."
"Comfortable and super relaxing in beautiful surroundings. Definite place to go again.<br />"
"Excellent stay, friendly reception. Restaurant service slow and not very friendly."
"Enjoyed our stay, nice and warm atmosphere lovely friendly people"
"Loved our stay - certainly had a friendly welcome and enjoyable stay!"
"We had a very good stay and were very well looked after by Johan. However, the staff are not very "hotel" minded in that they closed early on 1st January as it is a public holiday. Normal hotels understand hospitality and realise that public holidays are when the staff have to work as that is when leisure guests are staying."
"We were in Unit 37 an upstairs self catering unit. The units are brilliant and clean! Needed in the units are plugs, not great charging phones, blow drying your hair in the kitchen where the only plugs are!!!<div>We unfortunatly were above and around a very noisey wedding party!!! Was woken just after 5 with noise, people upstairs shouting at people downstairs!!! This happened both saturday and sunday, left earlier than we wanted on sunday as we could not have a lie in!!!</div><div>Maybe dont book people in between wedding parties, really spoiled our relaxing weekend!!!</div><div>Couldnt even make use of the lovely balcony!!!!</div>"
"as clean"
"Had a wonderful stay at this superb guest house. Such a friendly bunch to make you feel welcome, in the most tranquil environment. Highly recommended."
"Beautiful setting, lovely buildings and lots of atmosphere."
"When we arrived at reception we were not welcomed or explained about anything at the guest house. We were just given our key and indicated where to go. When we got to our room, the mirror was cracked and it had a terrible musty smell. I went back to reception and asked them for another room, which they gave to us and was a bit better. I also had to ask the detail about the breakfast time, dinner times, facilities, etc. as there was nothing explaining it in the room. The linen had a hole in, the shower door was broken, not once during our stay was the room cleaned, the mattress was filthy, and on the Sunday at 5 o'clock one of the workers spoke at the top of his voice outside our window, resulting in us leaving one day sooner. The manager said she would give us a discount, but in the end we paid the R900.00 deposit and then another R600.00 for the two days we stayed. In essence, we should, without the discount only have paid R1200.00 and not the R1500.00 we did. We have stayed at guest houses all over the world and this was one of the worse experiences. Luckily we found another delightful place in the area, that made up for the bad experience."
"Ons, dr. Dolf en Rita van Niekerk, het die wonderlikste 3 dae by Silver Mist beleef. Die atmosfeer en dekor is hoogstaande.
