Kakamas is a town founded in 1898 and located in the Northern Cape province of South Africa, on the banks of the Orange River. The name Kakamas was originally given to a drift that was known as Takemas or TKakamas since 1779. The name means place of the raging cow. To some, the town's name originates from the Khoi word "gagamas" which means brown, referring to the red clay of the area with which women daub their faces. To most though, Kakamas is a Korana word meaning poor pasture.

"Disgusting to begin with. It was raining no bells were working at the outside of the gate, getting wet, phone the land line nobody answer the phone, tried the mobile phone after its ringing she picked up. She shown us the place, no 2point plugs, phone again she brought us a plug, after I confirmed with her, I asked her what time is breakfast, sorry you are staying in a self-catering unit breakfast is not included, after I have an phone call with her, her direct answer was: R550 per night including breakfast????? Advertised outside DSTV is available, but our unit have an old TV, who is broken at the sides and only with SABC 1,2 and 3, no DSTV. Mouse dropping all over the place, it was cold I took out the blanket out of the cupboard it stink like mouse urine; the outside furniture was not clean also. Its time to report all the back yard gesthouses at:Helopeter.com R550 a waist of money never again."
