It nestles in typical Transkei rural scenery with scattered dwellings in the distant rolling Transkei hills. There is an amazing variety of birdlife. Game viewing features eland, impala, bontebok, kudu, bushbuck, wildebeest zebra and many others. Benmore Farm, on which Benmore Lodge is situated, is a delight to explore on foot; from a short stroll to the Strelitzia fields to an adventurous circle route on foot and boat via the Kei River to the village of Kei Mouth.Tranquillity and privacy are keynotes of your stay at Kei Mouth when you visit at Benmore Lodge. December has daily activities for children of all ages on the beach; lifeguards on duty in holiday season. For the teenagers and adults there is lots to do between Christmas and New Year including a great music festival with South African bands. Membership of the popular Kei Mouth Country Club can be arranged. The club has great golf competitions, such as the famous Kei Mouth/Morgan Bay Challenge in December. The club also features a popular restaurant and bar. The Shed, a pub n grub, hosts Kei Mouth's most popular New Years Eve party as well as milestone dates throughout the year. Once a cow shed on historic Benmore Farm, The Shed is a real haven of tranquillity. It is a short walk from the chalets of Benmore Lodge. Combining Benmore Lodge and The Shed you have an ideal party venue for those special occasions; no driving necessary after the party. We give special rates if you are staying at Benmore Lodge and using The Shed as a party venue. In season it is open daily for drinks and pub meals. There is a fully stocked bar with a varied cocktail and shooter menu. Pub meals include mouth-watering calamari and chips, traditional fish and chips, fresh salads, wraps and many more dishes. Every Friday night is "braai night" and we supply a variety of braai packs, salads, pap&sauce and our ever famous vetkoek!There are spacious, comfortable braai facilities which are at the disposal of guests, and braai packs can be bought from the pub. Life doesn't get much better than sitting on the deck outside The Shed, enjoying a sundowner and watching the birds and buck. It is an ideal venue for families. Children can roam around and experience farm life, see the wild ducks on the dam and the guinea fowl, chickens and bush buck. In the morning, our resident blue crane graces the farm with his regal presence. Peace and quiet, friendship and good times are all part of life at The Shed and Benmore Lodge.

17 August 2018"We were accommodated in a very spacious, clean and beautiful chalet. We were unfortunate to have arrived on a night when there was power failure but the 'Braai Friday Night' (if that is what it is called) brought some ease to this situation. Joanne, the host and her husband were welcoming and friendly.I would recommend a generator or, at the very least, extra blankets for the chalets so as to have a back up when there are power cuts. It is difficult for visitors who often traveled afar to make their own plan in such power failure situation. Thanks to the Eskom team that managed to restore power, albeit at about 23:40 when we have already gone to bed."

02 April 2013"Furniture and fittings very tired. Linen was questionably clean or had been put away damp as it didn't smell fresh. Bath was surrounded by black mould. Of all the sa national parks and B&B's we stayed in this was expensive and did not represent value. A pity as setting is lovely."
