Kloof Falls Lodge Bed & Breakfast

Perched on the edge of the Krantzkloof Nature Reserve, with breathtaking views of the waterfall and gorge, Kloof Falls Lodge offers a peaceful, stylish retreat for guests on holiday as well as on business. Your hosts, James and Glenda assure you of a warm welcome and look forward to treating you to an unforgettable stay in a relaxed, country-like environment just three minutes from central Kloof. Attention to detail and personal service are the keynotes.

Choose from seven elegantly furnished bedrooms where crisp cream linen, down duvets, fluffy white bathrobes and heated towel rails will make you feel special. If on business, you will find all facilities, yet be able to relax and unwind. Air-conditioning in five of these rooms will add to your comfort.

Savor the feel of Africa as you relax on the lower lawn, observing birds and butterflies. Sip a sun downer under the flat-crown trees and watch the sun set over indigenous forest. Lose yourself in a book or watch TV in your room or in the private guest lounge and dining room and enjoy a log fire on cold evenings. Leave your hosts to make reservations for dinner from a selection of excellent local restaurants.

Wake to birdsong, draw back your curtains and start your day with the sight and sound of the falls. Make your selection for breakfast which will be prepared and served by Tim and Kathleen. On warmer mornings, contemplate the wild beauty of the gorge while breakfasting to classical music on the pool-side patio. Unpack your walking boots and binoculars and take a leisurely stroll or a strenuous hike along one of the many nature reserve trails which run directly from the garden. Bush buck, duiker, monkeys and rock daisies frequent the reserve. Guided tours of the Krantzkloof Nature Reserve, which boasts 200 species of birds, can be organized. A crowned eagles nest is 20 minutes walk from the lodge. The pair usually breeds every second year in September.

Kloof is 25 minutes inland from Durban and 10 minutes from the business centres of Pinetown, Westmead and New Germany. Being 500m above sea level, the village escapes the humidity of the coast in summer. Several shopping malls, pubs, restaurants, a gym and an 18-hole golf course at the Kloof Country Club, are 5 minutes drive from Kloof Falls Lodge.

For the tourist, Kloof Falls Lodge is an ideal stopover between the majestic Drakensberg, and the Northern KZN game parks. The uKhahlamba-Drakensberg Park and the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park in each of these areas are World Heritage Sites. The lodge is a secure base from which to visit attractions such as the KZN beaches, the Midlands Meander, the Valley of a Thousand Hills, malaria-free safari and game parks, and living Zulu villages.

Transport to and from Durban airport as well as tours can be arranged.

  • "Not happy with safarinow"

    13 October 2014

"I am very unhappy with how misleading the advertisement was. I had a romantic time away planned. It shows a beautiful loft type room which really looks wonderful. On arrival we ended up staying In a rather blan non romantic room in the back. Fortunately the manager saw this and didn't charge us the remaining R 400 that I still owed. I feel this is unfair."
