Bordering Mozambique and the well-known Kruger National Park, the town of Komatipoort is home to Pioneers Lodge. Being one of the original guest lodges in this historic town, it is ideal for guests looking for comfortable accommodation while visiting Mpumalanga.
This rambling colonial-style lodge has nine lovely guest rooms with a variety of bed configurations and en-suite bathrooms. Most rooms have TVs with DStv access, tea and coffee facilities and bar fridges. The lodge also has a self-catering unit with a fully equipped kitchen.
Guests can relax in the lush garden, or take a refreshing dip in the sparkling swimming pool. The lodge is located on the towns main road and is within walking distance to many shops and restaurants, making it the ideal base to explore the area from.
"Charlain is friendly and went to the trouble of reserving a table at the restaurant for us and putting an extra bed in a room for us. However a cellphone was stolen out of my bag inside a locked room and her best repsonse was "its never happened before"... The bathrooms stink of pee, the pillows and bedding are cheap and very uncomfortable. I will not be back here!"
"Needs better cleaning services, and a little maintenance"
"Upon arrival and first thing we see is 'AUCTION' sign and absolutely no clue where to find said property, was a little concerning. Had to phone owner of "Lodge" to find out what was going on. She referred us to the back of the property where we could find the accommodation.<br/><br/>Rooms were old, a tad dirty (dirty marks on doors, etc) and in need of TLC (cupboard shelves broken, etc), Mattresses old and very thin. Child chose to sleep on floor as it was more comfortable than sleeping on bunk, where he could feel the base of the bunk bed through the mattress. <br/><br/>But we managed for the one night we were there. <br/><br/>"
