Kosi Bay Casitas offers a hint of Mozambique in South Africa, close to Sodwana Bay and Ponta do Ouro, making this an ideal stopover for adventure seekers, divers and snorkelers in a tropical climate.
We are located just 2 km from the crystal-clear Third lake of the Kosi estuary, 10 km from the Farazela Border Post to Mozambique and about 15 km from Kosi Mouth, which is our nearest beach.
We offer comfortable accommodation in our private and rustic chalets. We have 16 shady campsites. There is also a lovely restaurant and bar, as well as a swimming pool on the premises. We also offer Wi-Fi to our guests. Please note, Wi-Fi will only be in the restaurant area and swimming pool area, and not in the rooms.
The Kosi Bay estuary is home to a variety of bird- and wild life, including hippos and crocodiles. We are happy to assist with advice on things to do in the area, visits to surrounding game reserves and birding hot-spots.
Activities include snorkeling, turtle tracking for both Loggerhead and Leatherback turtles during their nesting season, canoeing, bird watching, boat trips and 4x4 trails.
"Having a restaurant on site. Delicious food."
"The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, and the food was excellent. I will definitely be going back when I get a chance."
"Your shower head is a bit poor. Overall the experience was amazing and we loved you good mannered dogs and playful. We truly enjoyed every moment and will be glad to share all the info to our friends and will be back soon."
"We had a great time and all needed facilities where available and clean"
"Loved everything! Breakfast was great and so were the rooms. Peaceful and so relaxing!"
"There really are shaded camp sites! not like some places, and the restaurant and pool is awesome. Good value for money camping."
"Friendly staff and good facilities."
"the staff was very friendly and helpful. We were nice and close to the permit office. The campsite was always clean and was not noisy. Could do with more dustbins and more taps. Beautiful part of the world"
"The campsite is located in an ideal setting, close to Kosi Mouth and to the Ezemvelo reception desk.We had a lovely stay at the campsite and the staff are very friendly. The restaurant is quite pricey and they capitalize on the fact that the location is quite far away from town, so expect to pay quite a bit for drinks and ice at the resort."
"The housing was comfortable and clean. The area was beautiful and the staff was very helpful. It was a wondeful stay all over. The cooking appliances could be better but other than that there is nothing to change."
"Could not fault anything. The staff are so helpful and always prepared to go the extra mile. I would highly recommend you to stay. The best experience I've had in a long. We will be back to enjoy again Thank you once again Casitas.See you soon. Toni Batista"
"Everything is on point . We'll be back no doubt"

"We were met by friendly Josh barman cook bookings ext. He showed us around the place. Tanya arrived what a lovely lady so lovingly welcomed us and booked us in changed and upgraded our booking with no extra cost. She made us feel very welcome and at home. Loving the enviroment and the communittyThen we met Ivan on the boat man o man what a absulute gentleman. Very well informed about the wildlife and the inviroment such a pleasure to spend hours on the kosi lakes giving us as much info about the local tribes, fish and animals and birds. Food was great.Well done guys. Although rustic very pleasant overall"
"You have thought of everything. We were very comfortable!"
"Firstly we would like to thank Tanya and Ivan as well as the two youngsters for the awesome time we had .From our first day to our last day 14 days later was awesome. The food was good and well prepared and the pizza is a must have. We went on a turtle drive with Ivan and this was fantastic,I will recommend this to people visiting the Casitas aswel as the lake cruise. Kosi mouth must be visited aswel and the snorkeling is awesome. The water is clear and the white sand can be seen when walking through the water. The weather was awesome and please take enough sunscreen with. Casitas have a wonderfull pool to relax in and the bar and restaurant is next to it. We will definitely visit Casitas again before year end. I will recommend Kosi Bay Casitas to all my friends and family. Thanks you so much Ivan,Tanya, Aiden and Ashley for your friendly and awesome service, you guys are tops. God Bless."
"The location of the lodge is very practical to go to Kosi Bay or Kosi Mouth (around 30min by car). The Casitas are well furnished (self catering) and cumfortable.<br/>The team is just PERFECT and makes you feel at home! We have been very well welcomed by every member and all their advices were very useful!! Thanks again!!<br/>The restaurant makes simple but very good food and is always available to answer to your requests.<br/>In addition to the Kosi Mouth snorkeling (just amazing!), we did the Turtle Walk activity: there were a lot of people - I think it was the busiest day!! - however, the organisation tried to make its best in order we enjoy as much as possible...which worked: an unforgettable moment to meet this loggerhead turtle on the beach under the stars!!"
"It was basic and for our needs it was perfect, just<br/>a overnight accommodation on the way to Mozambique. The chalet had all the necessary utensils and equipment the only disappointment was we did not get much sleep because of mosquito. I would suggest some mosquito nets.<br/>Further the chalet was fine. The reed chalet also have a certain smell to it maybe some air freshener would assist with it.<br/>I forgot some of my stuff and was mailed to inform me."
"We spent 7 nights in the Casitas, 5 Camping and 2 in a chalet. Both experiences were superb. There is a great restaurant/pub on the property serving yummy food and cold drinks to the guests. It is a really great vibe where you can sit and play board games, chat and meet other travelers.<div><br /></div><div>We found the staff to be extremely professional and friendly and they offer an array of activities at reasonable prices from boat trips to fishing guides and more.<br /><div><br /></div><div>The Casitas is a real gem and we will definitely be back.</div></div>"
"This is quite basic accommodation, but comfortable, well equipped for few days stay. Rooms are comfortable, owners very friendly and helpful.<div>There is a bar and restaurant on site for those that don't feel like cooking.</div><div>Someone had a party when we were there and we were worried about noise, but it did not go for long - so seemingly owners have avaryones interest in minds and keep the place under control.<br /><div>We only stayed there one night en route to Mozambique, so could not really take advantage of place and the area.<div>For your own good, follow the directions you get from the lodge owners, not necessarily your GPS (our Garmin seemed to have gotten completely lost in this area trying to lead us repeateadly onto dirt tracks, despite perfectly good tar road...)</div><div><br /></div></div></div>"
"<div>We had a wonderful stay at Casitas. Accommodation was rustic, which is what we were looking for. The unit was comfortable and cleaned daily. Lovely setting (sandy islandfeel...)with nice bird viewing and many activities offered.Owners were warm, friendly, and hospitable. Also nice restaurant available. Will definitely return!</div><div></div><div>Nishal <br /><br /></div>"
"We stayed in Kosi Bay Casitas for 1 night. The owners, Tanya and Ivan, we didn't get a chance to meet Ray, were incredibly helpful, relaxed and friendly. Tanya is a birder which created a connection from the get-go. Ivan unobtrusively supported and addressed all our requirements. Our impression was that Kosi Bay Casitas served as a great base to explore all activities in and around Kosi Bay for the budget conscious traveler. The area around the lodge is rural and we had to drive to get to the areas we were interested in visiting, i.e. Kosi Bay Mouth, Bhanga Nek, etc, however the owners were very willing to arrange excursions / permits, even using their 4x4 vehicle, which is a necessity, at short notice and at affordable rates. In summary, if you like rustic, this is a great base for exploring Kosi Bay and surrounds."
"Tanya, Ray and Ivan made our stay very welcoming. From the day we booked, Tanya kept us informed of what to expect in the area. They helped us organise our excursions even when last minute. They organised the following for us: boat ride to Banga Nek,transfer to Kosi Bay Mouth, turtle watching at Banga Nek,a guide to show us the 4x4 route from the Banga Nek all the way down to Sodwana (highly recommend this as we met a couple along the way who had been lost for 4 hours!)The lodges are basic but comfortable (there is also camping spots), the restaurant food simple but delicious (even catering for vegetarians!), the pool warm and inviting and the bar serving you a cold beer or two. Highly recommend if on a budget, and as it is not far from Kosi Bay Parks Board for your permits it's an ideal central point. And if you were like us, a little unprepared with the full self-catering, then this is the spot. Our family of 4 adults had a great time and did not want to leave..."
"Kosi Bay Casitas was great! Tanya, Ivan, and Ray were super helpful and knowledgeable, and beyond accommodating to our every need. The place was well kept and clean. Restaurant and bar were an added bonus, and the food very good as well! I would definitely recommend Kosi Bay Casitas - the hospitality makes it an ideal place to stay!"
"Very well situated in the Kosi Bay region. Easy access to parks board for permits and on the way to most other beaches and the Kosi bay mouth. Quick access to Mozambique border.Lovely food at the restaurant and continuous personal friendly service from the owners. Ablutions always clean and neat and stocked with hand soap and toilet paper all the time.A lovely place to stay will highly recommend."
"Lovely shady camp sites with electrical points and clean ablutions. We were made to feel welcome and the team was very helpful. Highly recommended."
