Cornerstone Guest House

Cornerstone is a lovely guest house in a tranquil suburban area, situated in Kuruman. Lying in the heart of the Kalahari, Kuruman is one of those special places endowed with incredible picturesque scenery and unique beauty. We offer four comfortable rooms, all with en-suite bathrooms.

Kuruman lies virtually on the edge of the Kalahari, at the foot of a range of low hills, so one can easily imagine the possible extreme temperatures experienced here. The sheer beauty of Kuruman and the fact that it lies on the main route between Gauteng and Namibia or Cape Town via Upington, makes it a popular place to stop, particularly because its beauty is so unique and largely unspoilt.

Theres a nature reserve, called Billy Duvenhage, just 2 km along the Kathu Road which is home to several game and bird species and doesnt allow fishing in a bid to protect endangered species. The world-famous Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park begins in the Kalahari, an unbelievably beautiful escape into 3.6 million hectares of desert.

  • "Breakfast package"

    25 March 2014

"It is a clean and nice guest annex to a family house, but the family obviously is not very interested in a guest business. B&B means to have a breakfast package in the fridge with your arrival date and best before date being the same on a ready made sandwich from Woolworths."

  • "Great stay!"

    26 June 2013

"I stayed four nights at the cornerstone guest house and felt that it was more than comfortable. It is set in a nice leafy street in Kuruman with ample parking and very friendly owners. The room itself was generously sized and is quite new with all of the need amenities. I would certainly stay there again."

  • "Home away from home"

    22 April 2013

  • "Recommended"

    10 September 2012

"Very congenial hosts and lack of dining facility did not detract from our stay: the 'picnic' breakfast was excellent. Highly recommended."
