If you enjoy nature in its true virgin form then Bontebok Cottage is the ideal retreat, with free-roaming game and endless views across the smooth Karoo mountains as constant company.

Accommodation is upmarket with two queen-size bedrooms both with full en-suite bathrooms, set in a unique and rustic theme. The lounge has a large beautiful fireplace that offers an elevated look, giving warmth and structure to the African-inspired lounge.

In the kitchen emphasis is placed on the beautiful blend of wood, pots and pans, baskets and local artwork, giving you a creative work space to cook up a feast.

Located in an extremely private position, your nearest and only neighbour is almost one kilometre away. One can view a range of game right from your patio and familiarize yourself with up 160 species. Bontebok Cottage invites you to come relax and enjoy the experience under the sunny Karoo sky.

"One should be advised that there is no cell phone reception for Vodacom and MTN. We are an older couple and when we had a puncture on the dirt roads it was rather scary to know we could not contact anyone for assistance and we battled to change the tire on our hire car"

"So lovely to break way from the hustle and bustle of city life to this well equiped cottage."

  • "Mixed reaction"

    10 October 2016

"We really enjoyed the absolute silence, both day and night, and the cottage/lodge was well appointed. But there is a big reservation, it is very difficult to get to as the last 500+ m. is not dirt road (no problem) but 4x4 track! We feared for our car as even without the passengers it "bottomed out" a few times. Please let others know, also that the "Reception" is actually "Kantoor" on the opposite side of the road from the entrance gate."

  • "Peace and Serenity"

"Our second visit (first visit in 2012 in a sedan!). This time we came prepared with a Toyota HiLux 4x4 (Low)- you DO need a 4x4. Did all the drives and loved it. Rik has thought of almost everything. The view is amazing and the starry nights awesome. Braaing on the stoop with a beer/wine in your hand is what life is all about."
