Right in the extreme south of KwaZulu-Natal's south coast lies the idyllic little village of Munster, the last resort before Port Edward. There is a resort here with some excellent rock-climbing. Munster has one of the most awesome beaches in South Africa - certainly the most picturesque in Natal. The beach front has three shark-protected beaches all of which are patrolled by lifeguards during school holiday periods. The resort is just a ten minute drive from the Wild Coast Casino over the Mtamvuma River in the Eastern Cape.

Just a few kilometers inland from Port Edward is the Umtamvuma Nature Reserve. Here the visitor will find a nesting colony of Cape vultures among the high cliffs that run along the river. This 3150 hectare nature reserve is home to the black backed jackal, baboons, and the large spotted genet, along with several species of buck, the samango monkey and leopards. The thick forest is home to some 80 species of bird and is thick with ferns, lichen and wild flowers.

"Stayed in this unit for a week in December and it was clean and comfortable with all facilities in order. We enjoyed our stay here very much and will most certainly go back. Even though the complex was full the overall impression was that it was not even half full. Access to the beaches and shopping amenities were all very close and catered perfectly for our needs. The management of the complex were also very helpful and accommodating.To reiterate, a most enjoyable stay."

"The unit 51 which we stayed in was amazing, it has everything a family needs for a perfect stay including a washing machine, flat screen TV and dishwasher. The unit has a double bed and a double bunk with a single bunk above it and an additional single bed but is very spacious. It is clean, neat and modern. The resort has a massive pool with deck chairs and umbrellas and a braai area which the kids and adults spent hours in. There is a trampoline and jungle gym which the kids loved. The games room and putt putt were awesome. It is centrally located to all the beautiful surrounding beaches and 10 minutes from the Wild Coast Sun. There is no sea view, only a garden view and one must remember to bring your own DSTV, although there is a DVD player in the unit and one can rent DVD's from Port Edward Spar. Thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and will definitely be back."

"Extremely disappointed - specifically asked for a 6 sleeper unit, only to receive 5 beds on arrival, which made it very uncomfortable for 1 person. The constant smell of drains is unbearable. Unit also did not have an oven. Had much better accommodation for much less in the past."

"The putt putt doesn't exist.The unit is advertised with DSTV but you must bring you own sim card - due to the simcard linked to our own decoder we had to take everything with and had to pay R250 to get somebody to link it.We where shifted to another unit (no shower or dstv) a day before we where due to leave and was told it was because of a severage pipe that was broken but that afternoon other people where moved in to the unit - I presume there was a double booking (we did receive that days money back) but it was still very inconvenient."

"My stay at San Miguel was very pleasant. My unit was comfortable and clean. Only criticism is that some of the units are quite close to the main road, and can be noisy at times. Overall a very pleasant stay and will be back!"
