In the foothills of the mighty Drakensberg mountains, amid rolling hills and beautiful gardens, Lastingham offers luxury accommodation at most reasonable prices in a tranquil country setting
Our country lodge and farm was named 'Lastingham' after a vicarage in North Yorkshire, by the Lidgett family, who immigrated to South Africa in 1849. The small village nearby is named Lidgetton.
Set in 40 acres of pastureland, the original family homestead built in 1912 has been restored to its full Victorian/Edwardian splendour by your hosts, Mike Macnab and Lynne Holding.
Lastingham Guest House and bed and breakfast gives you the opportunity to enjoy accommodation at one of the Natal Midlands' grand old rural homesteads. In the foothills of the mighty Drakensberg mountains, amid rolling hills and beautiful gardens Lastingham Guest House offers luxury accommodation at most reasonable prices in a tranquil country setting.
Scattered around the house in the lush gardens overlooking a dam, are individually appointed luxurious en-suite rooms, designed by Lynne drawing on her 14 years experience as an interior designer. The Portfolio Guide to guest houses and bed and breakfasts in South Africa rate the accommodation as luxurious, but we offer real value for money

"Loved our stay! Nice quiet, homey feel. Central location with quiet a few things to do in the area."
"Lovely midlands scenery and friendly hospitality combined with an appetising breakfast to start our day. We overnighted in the Midlands en route to the South Coast and can recommend Lastingham Guest Lodge as an ideal stopover."
"Really enjoyed our stay. Cottages are lovely and cosy. Breakfast was great!!! Lovely scenery and atmosphere. Would definitely recommend to my friends and would come back and stay again."
"The first drive in impression is not pleasing. The steep loose stone walk to the lower room is unlit, difficult to walk on, hence need a torch. The Green room was spacious, comfortable, clean and warm. The dining room is too small, however, the food was good."
"The countryside is beautiful, our host friendly and pleasant, their breakfasts, dinners and wine excellent."
