The cottage is situated in the heart of Lneburg, which was established as a German missionary post in 1854 - today Lneburg has an active farming community, is home to the oldest German school in Northern Natal, boasts an excellent butchery, a unique farm cash store and two beautiful churches which are well worth a visit.

"This is the 2nd time we have visited Whistling Duck and like before we had a wonderful stay! We were 8 persons instead of the recommended 6 persons but for Juliane it was no trouble adding 2 mattresses for the kids. There was more than enough cut and croc for all. Extremely neat, beautiful setting, peaceful, peaceful! Kids went canoeing, lovely NOT to have a TV + included enough braai wood and charcoal to have a cosy braai and fire! Friendly dogs and cats visiting - would recommend Whistling Duck in a heart beat!"

""What a wonderful place to stay! The welcome we received from Juliane and her staff were warm and friendly. The cottage is absolutely lovely, clean, neat, tidy and very well-equipped. Thanks Juliane for the most delicious supper you cooked us (we could not take food along as we were travelling on a motorcycle). On our return trip we stayed over at Whistiling Duck again and we are so glad we decided to do that. "What a lovely and well situated cottage. Nothing but the sounds of the country side, plenty of birds and hiking possibilities. Juliane and Heinz are adorable.The local government seems to have re-introduced the old Voortrekker roads, so it is advisable to have a modern ox wagon to get to this destination"

"One sometimes arrive at places in this world, and you are filled with an awesome peace. A feeling of...this is where I want to stay. Where you find superb inner content and fulfillment. A place where you can kick of your shoes, light the fire in the fireplace on a cool evening, pour your favourite drink and just sit and watch nature happen around you. A place where you have a feeling you last felt as a child, with a strange excitement to explore the unknown. A farm setting with a touch of modern elegance yet not overwhelming but very warm and welcoming. Heinz and Juliane are fantastic people and their farm setting is just what any tired city dweller, with a need for some tranquility and quiet together with some animal interaction, needs.A place where you can breath in fresh air and find yourself again, and just be.
