The Golden Grape Bed and Breakfast is situated in the small town of Lutzville, near Vrendendal, in the wine-growing area on the banks of the Olifants River close to the Atlantic Ocean on the West Coast. We offer four comfortable en-suite rooms as well as a two-bedroom self-catering flatlet.
The Golden Grape is an ideal stopover between Cape Town and Namibia, located just 25 minutes off the N7 and 20 minutes from the Diamond Coast. For wine-lovers, the Olifants Wine Route is the thing to do. Starting at Seal Breeze Winery, the smallest of the route, owner Mrs Joan Wiggins makes her own unique wines the authentic way, by hand, with no machinery involved. Then onto Lutzville Vineyards, the second largest winery in the country, where Lydia will welcome you for an unforgettable wine tasting. From there it's on to Keukenhof Winery, approximately 10 km from Lutzville, also for its authentic wine-making.
Not far from The Golden Grape on the Diamond West Coast are the two small popular seaside villages of Strandfontein and Doornbaai, known for their South African lobsters or crayfish. During early spring, the area also boasts world-renowned carpets of wild flowers which spread as far as the eye can see.
"dispite that the owner was new she was excellent in her new job"
"Awesome experience and fantastic stay with amazing people. Highly recommended. Will definitely consider them for future holidays."
"Baie netjiese gastehuis. Gawe mense wat heeltyd bederf. Sal weer daar bespreek"
"<p>We stayed at The Golden Grape from 24 to 26 December 2015. We were forewarned by the owner that no breakfast would be served over the period, which was understandable and acceptable. However, we felt unwelcome and actually as if we were intruding. The owner's family spent the Christmas period with them, which again is not a problem at all. But, we werebarely greeted upon our arrival. In fact, the owner only later showed up after our arrival and only questioned whether we had everything we needed, where after we never saw her again. When we left, no one was available to hand the keys to and or to greet us. We were made to understand that we were done a favour in respect of the accommodation when in fact we were the guest and should have been appreciated! Perhaps it would be best not to accept guests when family is visiting and proper attention cannot be provided to your guests? Just a thought.</p>"
"Pleasant and friendly hosts Debbie and Jan Thomas made us feel very welcome and at home. This was our second visit. We definitely recommend the Golden Grape."
