Anford House and Restaurant is ideally situated between Johannesburg and Nelspruit and the Kruger National Park just off the N4 highway and offers accommodation and bed and breakfast facilities to travelers. It is also an ideal venue for a weekend getaway only 2 hours from Gauteng.
Anford Country house is situated in a natural Pine forest on the escarpment.
Anford lies on the foot of the Steenkamps mountains and has sandstone formations. The water has cut valleys through the ancient formations and is home to some very rare fauna and flora.
Anford Country house is situated on Anford Estate in Mpumalanga between Belfast and Machadodorp on the escarpment. The original house was built in 1872 and was recently refurbished and turned into a Country house and Restaurant for the passing travelers on the N4 highway. Accommodation for 20 people in various en-suite room configurations can be catered for. A private forest cottage with three bedrooms is also available.
"We had a lovely rest and enjoyed our stay."
"What you advertised we got, real country style home away from home. From the pure white walls, genuine creaking wooden floors, perfect clean private bedrooms with en suite bathroom equipped with bath and shower and entire house surrounded by perfect cut green grass. The cherry on top is the high quality mattress and bedding, enough hot water throughout our stay. Surrounded by huge pine trees, dam with waterfall when raining with picnic spot makes you feel the country at its best. Rooms are serviced every day during our short stay and to round of staff that is very helpful and friendly!"
"We stayed in the Forest Cottage. Although I would not describe it as a luxury stay, it was clean and comfortable and very spacious. Much of the cottage has recently been revamped. There aren't a lot of "structured" activities on the property (currently no fish in the dams), but we kept busy with our kids riding bikes, swimming in one of the dams, climbing trees, and taking the short hike on the property. The hike was really lovely and just the right amount of adventure for our two young kids (aged 4 and 7). They enjoyed playing around the house and I loved hearing birdsong and just enjoying the quiet restfulness. The hosts were very friendly and helpful and even offered us a free breakfast one morning. Although I think we might get bored if we stayed longer than 4 days, I hope we can return in the future for another short visit."
"Clean, neat, affordable"
"Peaceful and quite. A lovely place t o get away from the city life and nor far from the quaint town of Dullstrooms. The host are very friendly with info of what to see and do. We stayed in room No 7 and it was perfect, with hot blankets, tea, coffee rusks etc. And a big shout out to Thandeka who works tirelessly"
"We stayed for one night at Anford Country House. We were the only guests. The manor is beautiful but needs a lot of maintenance. The rooms are clean and service is if you ask for it good."
"To many people wandering around in side the main house that seem to have nothing to do with the establishment. The lady in charge although very pleasant, needs training."
"It was a very enjoyable time I got to spend with my family. Dit was 'n baie aangename tydjie wat ek saam met my gesin daar deurgebring het."
