Thatch Haven

Thatch Haven is a beautifully renovated old thatch-roof house that has kept the original style of an English-French garden house. It offers guests five comfortable en-suite bedrooms.

Guests have a choice of Double Rooms, Twin Rooms or the Bridal Suite. All the rooms have en-suite bathrooms with baths or showers and are equipped with Satellite TVs, fans, heaters, tea and coffee facilities and bar fridges; some rooms have lovely garden views. The Double Rooms and Twin Rooms are furnished with comfortable double or twin beds, while the Bridal Suite has a queen-size bed.

Thatch Haven also serves as a function venue for up to 250 people and the landscaped garden provides a wonderful backdrop for photo shoots. The guest house has a security guard on site and secure parking is provided. The Mafikeng Airport is within a 30-minute drive and transport is available on request.

The Mafikeng Museum is worth a visit for its historic display of the Second Boer War in 1899 when the town was famously besieged, as well as the diary of Sol Plaatje and much more. The Mafikeng Game Reserve is 4600 hectares of Kalahari grassland and acacia thorn, where one is almost guaranteed to view white rhino, buffalo, gemsbok and giraffe. The Botsalano Game Reserve is home to open Kalahari thornveld and over 2000 animals and 200 bird species.

"Another winner! Excellent value for money. We loved our huge room with separate lounge. The kitchen was great - a little more crockery would be great, but what was there was adequate."

  • "Enjoying Thatch Haven"

    29 March 2016

"<p>Our stay at Thatch Haven was very enjoyable. The room we stayed was excellent and well appointed. What made our stay even more memorable was the efficiency and friendliness of the staff as well as their eagerness to assist in any way possible. I would recommend Thatch Haven to anyone who is looking for accommodation in that area.</p><p>One important fact to note is that there is no breakfast available on weekends as they are generally busy with other functions i.e. Weddings.</p><p>Kit Muirhead</p>"
