La Provence is a small French Provence village comprising seven suites. Beautifully decorated, each suite features a fireplace, making it a wonderful winter getaway.
We offer delicious and romantic dinner baskets, and a champagne brunch is included in the bed and breakfast rate. We also offer cheese platters to be enjoyed down by the river with lovely wine for sale from our quaint pub.
The French courtyard, complete with a beautiful three tier fountain, is perfect for small private weddings. Our wonderful French four poster beds, romantic bathrooms with Victorian baths, beautiful antique furniture pieces, hand embroidered linen, and exquisite attention to detail makes for an unforgettable weekend for those who still love a touch of French romance, without having to travel all the way to Europe.
"Really enjoyed our stay. The staff are great and very professional. The establishment is very unique and won't appeal to everyone. Some improvement in general cleanliness in the rooms is needed, but can be difficult to achieve with the amount of ornaments and decor in the rooms which contributes to the look and feel of the whole place."
"Jerimiah and team went out of their way to ensure an enjoyable stay. Top marks for the team. The meals were excellent but the dinner menu repeated after two days so we had to go eat out on the third night. Even for winter the garden needs attention."
"We had the most wonderful stay at La Provence, celebrating my husbands 60th. We have full praise for the accommodation, food and atmosphere, but to top it off was Marguerite , Jeremiah and the rest of the amazing team who made us feel so special with their personalized attention and willingness to please and accommodate us throughout our stay,eg. with meal requirements. You were all very appreciated in making our stay so special. Thankyou."
"The place kept to its promise of Provence. However, there were a few snags. The shower in one room that we occupied does not drain the water out. The drain is not fitted properly and the water simply sat at the bottom of the bath located under the shower. This is certainly not in line with good hygiene and customer service. The locking mechanism for the door to the honeymoon suite did not work. A new lock was put in, but this did not work either. The site advertised an outside pool, but the only pool was the one at the spa which could only be used if no clients were using the spa facilities. The gardens are beautiful and the forest walk was super."
"We had a great relaxing time. The staff is very special and nothing is to much effort."
"<div>We arrived finding that there was no wardrobe to put our clothes. We were then moved to a room that had not been cleaned since when ever. We paid for a 3 course dinner basket and was given a cheese platter </div><div>Booked a Zen treatment - no picnic lunch or champagne. We left a day early </div><div>No wonder we were the only booking the other couple was passing by and stopped there as all other accommodation was fully booked </div><div></div>"
"Fabulous! We enjoyed our stay tremendously. It is a beautiful, romantic setting, enhanced by friendly, attentive staff and good food.Highly recommended."
"My husband and I spent our 1st Anniversary weekend here. It was very rustic and romantic. We enjoyed it a lot. The food was really nice and different. The French atmosphere was done nicely."
"We had booked for a romantic weekend away, which was unfortunately spoiled by a number if issues, the biggest being the conference party booked into the rooms along side ours. A loud party of ladies kept us up well past 11pm on both evenings with their laughing and talking and were up before 7 each day. Their talking in the adjacent rooms was so loud we could hear the entire conversation. The evening we arrived, we waited 20 minutes in the dining area before anyone came to attend to us and there was no-one around for us to say we were ready to eat. There was no cutlery in the room to make coffee in the mornings. We purposefully went out on the morning to allow housekeeping to clean our room but were told that we had the only key to the room so it wasn't possible to have the room cleaned. We wanted to have a cheese platter served in our room on Saturday afternoon and was told that it wasn't possible and we would have to have it down by the river. And there are no card facilities?? These might all seem like really small issues but they spoiled the weekend for us.<br></br><b>Establishment's response</b><br></br><i>UNFORTUNATELY one sometimes just get such loud guests that have no respect for other and those are unfortunate when you have group bookings, we did try to chat to them.<br></br>Cheese platters are recommended to have down by the river as it is soo beautiful and tranquil, can lie down there on the grass with blanketsbut I am sure that my manager did not refuse to serve it in their room? It was just an alternative suggestion?<br></br>We have had guests going home with keys so it was, BAD TIMING that we did not have a spare key not so easy to have those made up in a day in the country.<br></br>A teaspoon could have quickly been taken to their room.<br></br>THERE is a lovely pub area where everyone can have drinks before shown to their room/ suite.<br></br>NOTHING MENTIONED about the beautiful setting and dcor.<br></br></i>"
"What a wonderful experience. This was a total surprise. The whole place was excellent and the service great. a special thanks to Jeremiah. If you want a relaxing romantic weekend away, this is the place to go. PS, Try the honeymoon suite!!!"
"Spectacular, Magical a real getaway from the 'norm' - I found La Provence reasonably priced. The staff where very friendly warm and helpful although I think they could use a few extra hands. I recommend this exquisite place. Anyone who liked the movie Lord of the Rings and appreciates art and beauty, a true time warp into mystery and fantasy land."
"I would definitely recommend La Provence to anybody wanting a relaxing and romantic getaway. The staff are incredible, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was delightful and relaxing. From picnic style dinners in the "street cafe" to breakfasts by the river, cheese platters for lunch and a drink at the local "pub" - our mini holiday felt like we were in the south of France, right in the middle of Magaliesberg! We look forward to returning again soon."
"Lovely weekend but completely overpriced."
"I am involved in the National Grading system and 3 Stars just does not do it justice. The rooms are exquisite, service is top notch, food is outstanding and attention to detail is 2nd to none. We were fortunate enough to be the only guests, which for our honeymoon, was extra special; albeit surprising. I travel this great country for a living and stay in all sorts of places, La Provence D'Afrique is one of the best value for money experiences you can get."
"Jeremiah is a fantastic host and looked after us very well!! The atmosphere is peaceful and tranquil, a little bit of heaven. Our room was beautiful and the finishing touches make all the difference!! It was lovely to curl up in front of the fireplace on the chilly evenings! Thanks again for the hospitality and delicious meals!"
"La Provence d'Afrique and Goblins Cove is everything and more than we expected. Our room was so beautiful and the food was very delicious! Jeremia is a host and manager 1000. I can recomend this place to anybody who needs some rest and time away from home!"
"We had a wonderful stay. The picnic meals were delightful and the massage was out of this world."
"Very unique establishment, great food and friendly staff. Sound seemed to travel through the rooms though and we could hear every other couples conversation."
"We loved the suite that we occupied and breakfast was delicious. Jeremiah was an absolute star as a manager. The cleaning staff were naughty, leaving milk for us to drink that was about to go sour and not giving us dry towels. Jeremiah was kind enough to sort the milk out and refill our cookie jar. The dessert on Friday night was not nice - R25 for hot chocolate is also a bit steep because it was really not worth it. Other than all of that, we really enjoyed our stay. The food at Goblins Cove was delicious and the service there was great. We would return for a few nights again."
"It was one of the best places we been to. Its a must go and see. Thank you so much for every thing, will go back there in a hartbeat."
"Rooms excellent, service excellent and dinner and breakfast was great. The only problem was that the rooms were close to the road, so a bit noisy. Beautiful gardens and setting."
"The pictures on the web is a true reflection of this place. Lovely rooms. Management go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. A real jewel in the Magaliesburg."
"Our stay was exceptional! The relaxing atmosphere, excellent food and quality of life experienced made it a wonderful weekend."
"Gorgeous venue, awesome service and awesome food. Only negative, the noice from the road in "La Passion"."
