Cottage Barry reminds one of a small Mediterranean villa combined with elements of an English country cottage, the ambience being one of carefree, happy days at the sea. Owned by Callie and Monique Strydom, this charming, quaint and delightful cottage is perfect for a small family or a romantic holiday.
The comfortable and attractively furnished cottage sleeps up to four guests and features an open-plan living area and kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering with a stove, microwave, fridge, freezer and a coffee machine.
The bedroom boasts a king-sized bed that can be converted into two single beds, with doors opening up onto a patio with sea views. This bedroom also has an en-suite bathroom with a bath. A deep sleeping alcove with adult-sized bunk beds, leads off the living room and privacy is secured by a screen.
The covered veranda, which features a six-seater dining table and built-in braai, boasts beautiful views of the sea and the magnificent natural coastal forest grounds.
"The positive: Marina beach and the restaurant on the water is fantastic! We loved it! Also there is an enclosed locking garage and a night watchman who has worked there for 17 years, we felt very safe. The property managers are also very nice and helpful! The negative:Very poor ventilation, meaning very hot nights and strong smell of mildew throughout the cottage. Also, the listing doesn't say this, but the cottage is attached to two other units on either side, so the only view looks onto a public walkway. Not much privacy and no sea view. There are a total of 6 units in the compound, of which this is the smallest and most 'budget'. Bed was uncomfortable and bedding smelled of mildew. bathroom windows cemented shut for security, making the ventilation problem worse.I recommend marina beach but please know what you are getting into if you stay here."
