It is a heaven for those who can indigenous the Karoo in a private nature reserve.Our mountainous scenery owes much of its rugged charm to the Paleozoic sedimentary rocks, dating back to 355 million years ago.This valley can be visited through out the year as each season reveals a gloriously secret beauty, specially for bird watching, hiking, fishing, picnics, cycling and resting. Enjoy tranquil surroundings and real farm peacefulness.
The Fossil Hills Cottage is a beautiful self-catering, fully equipped farm cottage with two bedrooms, bathroom (shower and bath), open plan lounge and kitchen, cozy fireplace and patio. Accommodation for four people. Equipped with an indoor as well as an outdoor fire and braai facilities. Well-known McGregor cellar is within a radius of 3 kilometer as well as the Donkey Sanctuary and the charming village of McGregor.Its private and perfect for a getaway weekend or holiday.

Beautiful views towards the dam, where a fish eagle was in residence and wonderful sunset views of the mountains. The night skies was bright with stars and a new moon added a magical touch. Had all the amenities we required. Located centrally to McGregor and Robertson, a really ideal spot!"

11 August 2011"We spent the long weekend in the Fossil Hills farm cottage and we had a great time. The cottage is very well equipped. In fact, it is probably one of the best that we've ever had. It is well located, on a north-facing hillside, and the view is wonderful. There are lots of dirt tracks for the kids to cycle and you can see them all the time as the cottage is situated well above the rest of the valley. Add to that the complimentary bottle of wine and more than enough wood for the fireplace and you have a great venue for a family or romantic breakaway. Lots of fossils too, if that interests you. And finally, Ina and Botha are really friendly and helpful hosts. We'll definitely be back."
