This legendary house was originally designed by Norman Eaton for world-famous South African artist Walter Battiss in 1939.
Rescued from being demolished, Battiss Guest House was lovingly renovated in 1986. The gleaming wooden floors, rounded windows and the Battiss murals on the walls and bathroom floor have been kept intact. The guest house management and staff is fully dedicated to make your stay as easy and comfortable as possible, offering the simplistic and peaceful surrounds of Fook Island as an escape from the fast pace of everyday life.
We are situated close to all the major highways, business meccas and cultural landmarks such as the Brooklyn Theatre.
"Loved the arty environment & the history. The whole feel was wonderfully Bohemian & the accommodation was well appointed with all you require."
"Our room was comfortable, spacious & warm. The bathroom had a huge bathtub, shower, double basin & lots of space.<br />Outside, we had a little private courtyard which was quaint, cosy & beautiful...perfect to relax!<br />It is very secure & private, but close to lots of restaurants & shopping centres.<br />"
