"Lovely farm experienceWell looked after cottages"

  • "Terrible Experience"

    16 July 2018

"Not worth the money, place doenst seem to have been maintained at all, water damage through the place u can smell the damp when u walk in, beds are horribly uncomfortable. Ontop of this there are sheep which rome freely, of which we witnessed one numerous times headbutting our vehicle actually leaving dents! The owner was away when it happened and upon his return did not even bother to come apologize, even when we approached him the following day after his return, when we wanted to leave he still did not have the decency to apologize. instead he just accused us of lying about the whole incident. will never go back or recommended the place to anyone, there are much better establishments with better value for money."

  • "Hidden gem"

    18 February 2018

"What a fantastic weekend away at this piece of heaven. We were welcome onto the farm by Kevin and felt very at home. The ablution set up is perferct with lovely hot showrs. The kitchen and braai area was really nice and we enjoyed having bonfires in the evenings! My daughter absolutely loved being able to intact with the farm animals- and feeding the lambs was most certainly a highlight! The dam provided hours of padlling and fishing entertainment. We could not have asked for better weather! Fountain Hall will definitely become our one stop weekend get away! Kevin and his wife were brilliant hosts!"

  • "Relaxation"

    07 January 2018

"Lovely setting. A must for the bass-fishing enthusiast."

  • "Rooster Cottage"

    22 August 2017

"The Rooster Cottage was very functional. The bath needs some attention and possible re-enameling. A shower would have been nice as opposed to a bath. The pillows on the beds need replacing with a better quality pillow but overall my stay was perfect for one night."

    15 February 2016

"<div>We spent 3 nights camping at Fountain Hall.</div><div>I expected a very basic campsite, boy was I surprised - a shared kitchen with washup facilities and a gas stove, 2 spacious bathrooms (shower and toilet), quiet spot on the dam, falling asleep to the sound of frogs, crickets and birds.</div><div></div><div>Despite being a high demand weekend the site was not overcrowded.</div><div></div><div>No hassle, No fuss!</div><div></div><div>Thank you so much Kevin.</div>"

  • "secluded place to unwind"

    21 December 2015

"beautiful surroundings, abundant birdlife, good fishing, campgrounds and facilities were neat, cottages were good value. <br />"

  • "Comfortable"

    04 November 2015

"Travelling as a couple and staying in Saddlers Cottage on our way back to Jhb after a trip down to the coast, our one night stay was comfortable. I think it would have been nice to have spent a bit more time exploring the farm, and perhaps even interacting with the animals or going on a short tour (if something like that is available). If you're not used to farm plumbing - it may be a challenge to get hot water out of the taps. Full service DSTV was appreciated, and the rooms were neat and clean. It was nice to see some cows right on our doorstep. I would stay here again (perhaps even camp next time)."

  • "Tranquil setting"

    07 September 2015

"A stunning and quiet campsite on the river, that you access through the farm and cow fields. Simple facilities on site - with BBQ stands, a fire pit, wood, and hot water (yay!) in the showers. No electricity at the camp site, so very tranquil."

  • "Fun family times at Fountain Hall"

    09 July 2015

"We had a lovely time at Fountain Hall. The accommodation was neat, clean, cosy and homely. A really great farm experience as my children even saw a calf born and take its first few steps - an experience they won't forget! Kevin, the host, was friendly and hospitable. We loved the fresh farm milk!! And a real treat for me was that the accommodation was serviced. I recommend Fountain Hall without hesitation."

  • "Relaxing farm experience"

    13 April 2015

"I would give it 4 stars, if you want a proper fam experience, cows on your door step and all, this is the place to go !! A working milk farm, soo fresh milk, you are free to walk around pet the calfs...go boating, there is enough fish in the river also , and a camping area under a beautiful big oak, safe and so beautiful. Kevin the owner is absolutely the most generous host, its as if you are a family member coming for a visit. If you want to get away no strings, no frills no hassles, this is the place to go. Its self catering and you have everything you need just bring supplies....there is DStv and WiFi, we did our payments EFT so no cash needed. But I must say the cows in the camp right in front of our chalet was the ultimate for me, they make you feel right at home."

  • "Stay at fountain farm"

    21 December 2013

"We had a lovely stay at Fountain Hall Guest farm. We were impressed with the space and the atmosphere. Firewood was provided and both evenings we had a sit on dinner at candlelight which we enjoyed a lot. A nice place to relax. Our guest who came from France and owns a chicken farm found it very interesting. We shall definitely return soon. During the day we explored the surroundings Beautiful part of our country."

  • "Fountain Hall Guest Farm stayover"

    06 June 2013

"We stayed over Thursday night 30 May 2013. Departure Friday Morning 31 May. The facilities was as described on the SafariNow site. We found the bed comfortable. The underfloor heating in the bathroom is just divine when freshly bathed feet connected with the bathroom tiles, In fact I took a hot bath before bed the previous evening and again the next morning. Kevin provided wood for the fireplace and we transferred our evening dining from the kitchen table to the dining table in the spacious living/dining area while the fireplace heated the whole area. We did not make use of the full DSTV in the main bedroom as we had enough of it at home. We enjoyed the tranquility and quiet of the farm instead. The next morning we awoke early (wife had the Comrades jitters) but enjoyed the warmth of the bed. My 8 year old daughter and my in-law's came along for the trip. My daughter made friends with the ginger farm cat, and finally dragged us out of bed for an early morning farm stroll. We had to make up some time because we planned a big breakfast at the Bierfasl on Nottingham road. The Kitchen only opened after 9. Unfortunatly we were a bit early for the grill so I could not get a sausage platter or sauerkraut balls deep fried. (I was planning a very naughty breakfast, wife needed the fats for the "long run".) So we had a stroll on the farm. My daughter attracts animals to her like a magnet. Because she is a city girl I always try to provide experiences she does not have an everyday opportunity to enjoy. Had a hard time to convince her that it might not be a good idea to ask the farmer if we can load a few geese, a lamb or even a little cow in the trailer. The home was clean, the beds comfortable, the water warm, enough towels, everything one is expecting of a facility that has a three star tourist grading."

  • "Nice"

    05 March 2013

"We literally just slept there, overnighting on a stressfull journey to Durban. Kevin was very accomodating, allowing us to arrive at 11 pm and leaving again very early in the morning. We were extremely comfortable and we did get to watch the calves playing just before we left. Next time we will stay longer."

  • "A few improvements"

    03 February 2013

"Sadler's cottage and the farm were nice enough, but the cleaning service needs jacking up. Dirty cups in the cupboard and old dirty pieces of hand soap in the bathroom, with hair adorning the basin. We did appreciate the full bouquet DSTV and the "orange" and white very friendly pussy cat."

  • "A First"

    19 May 2008

"This was our first time on a guest farm and the kids enjoyed every moment. The setup was nothing we expected. There was a fully equipped kitchen with 2 rooms, bathroom, a separate corner in the main bed room with a cot and a huge lounge with fire place. It felt if we also owned a farm for 2 evenings. Thank you."
