  • "A perfect House in a perfect setting"

    26 November 2017

"We had an absolutely amazing trip to Proudfoot. The directions are a bit confusing at first and a long gravel road adds some time to the journey but it is well worth it once you arrive. The house is perched atop a mountain allowing for spectacular views! The pictures definitely don't do it justice. Every aspect of this house has a little surprise like the well stocked kitchen with spices and bedrooms with blankets. The fireplace was amazing especially on the rainy days. The house is solar powered and even by only keeping a few necessary lights we still had no power for majority of our stay but that's part of the charm. Make sure to stock up on extra firewood!! There are plenty of games and books to keep you busy. Overall perhaps an additional source of power could help. There are 2 showers, a third could help bigger groups. Other than that I would not have changed a thing."

  • "Absolutely stunning house. We had a wonderful time."

    25 September 2017

"The only thing I would change is the directions to house. Little more specific details. We had a fantastic weekend. The perfect place for a family reunion or get together. To relax play games and enjoy the magnificent views. Once u get there, location perfect"

"Our stay at Proudfoot over the weekend was wonderful.<div><br /></div><div>We did have an issue with the one gas boiler, but the owners replaced it with a new one quickly.</div><div><br /></div><div>The road was fine, but we took the advise of the information provided and took our high clearance vehicle. We did not need 4x4 (we drive an ASX).</div><div><br /></div><div>We were seven adults, an eight and three year old and two infants. The house layout works well and we had a very comfortable stay. We procured wood and charcoal there, so no need to lump that with you.</div><div>There is a jungle gym for the kids, table tennis and DSTV. 02 February 2016

"We had a wonderful new year at Proud foot farm. The views are spectacular and the silence and tranquility exactly what we were looking for.<br /><br />The drive up was not hectic at all but I would recommend not taking any low clearance vehicles, as was mentioned to us on booking.<br /><br />We would definitely recommend Proud Foot to others and hope to enjoy more visits in the future.<br /><br />Thanks again.<br />"

  • "Proudfoot Farm Christmas and Celebration"

    28 December 2015

"<p>Our family joined us from far and wide to celebrate our parents 50th wedding anniversary, our brother's 50th birthday and Christmas together at Proudfoot Farm. Sadly, our dad passed away a month ago but we celebrated his life at this awe inspiring place. Most of our family walked up the hill after a Christmas braai. We had a wonderful weekmaking lots ofmemories. We had new experiences using only solar and gas but even these made the time memorable. Thank you to the staff Ntshepo, Lihle and Michael and the owners for this unforgettable time.</p>"

  • "Beautiful location!"

    22 September 2015

"The house is lovely and very spacious and the location on the hill is beautiful. It is a great set up and the staff were very friendly. The driveway is a bit tricky and not well signposted. Def not for cars with low clearance but everyone else will be fine. You must be careful to conserve the power while you are there if the weather is inclement. But overall it is a great spot, very isolated with a beautiful view and garden."

  • "A spoilt holiday"

    14 July 2015

"The house is beautiful and very spacious. People need to be informed that the 4.5km 'gravel' road is not gravel but rocks, ditches and loads of thorn bushes that scrapped the paint work on my car. Had to replace my run flat tyre as we ended up with a damaged tyre.<div>The helper is new and lacks knowledge on how the farm functions. We has no water for over 12hrs, couldn't take a shower, dirty toilets due to no water, continuous power cuts throughout the night. Once the owner was contacted for the second time, the following morning, he asked us to go around the house and open the water tanks, turn on the switches so we could get our electricity connected, and connect the gas so we could prepare breakfast. We were ten people, 6 adults and 4 kids. We were put through a great deal of inconvenience and accumulated most cost from this holiday. We cut short out holiday, did not stay the second night. Very, very disappointing.</div>"

  • "lovely break"

    07 April 2015

"<p>we had a really great easter weekend at the farm. the house is fantastic, the entertainment area and braai facilities make up for the dated rooms. walter, the groundskeeperwas a great help. </p><p>the driveway to get there is quite a bit tricky. the directions should say, if you think you're lost, just keep going - as there are no signs to show you the way once you're on the driveway despite there being a number of houses on the driveway. </p><p>just a few suggestions, there is only 1 shower for 4 bedrooms so an extra shower upstairs would be convenient. also the shower head is terrible and could do with an upgrade. the maid did not clean the house and only did what was asked of her, no toilet rolls were replaced, towels in the bathroom were not replaced, kitchen/stove not cleaned etc.</p><p>we would definitely go back as it was such a relaxing weekend. once you're there, you're off the grid, with no shops make sure you take everything you need or reception for devices, which I quite enjoyed.</p>"

  • "Heavenly"

    06 January 2015

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Proud Foot Farm. Being right on top on the mountain, we enjoyed a fantastic thunderstorm, beautiful rainbow, stunning views and absolute serenity. It's well worth the drive. The house itself is well kitted out (including a table tennis table) and beautifully furnished. If you want to get away from everything, this is the place. Our dog also loved the garden and watching the cows.Tips: The groundskeeper is lovely but doesn't speak much english. Cellphone signal in intermittent at best but that's part of the charm. The road is pretty good but our heavily loaded car did scrape a bit. The house is not signposted but drive until you can't anymore, that's the house, right at the top. It's a 45 minute drive on a dirt road back to civilisation so don't forget the milk!"

  • "Easter Weekend Away"

    14 July 2014

"My family and I (10 adults 3 toddlers) spent easter weekend at Proud Foot farm and loved every minute. It is quite a drive to get there but worth it. What a view! The ads needs to be more informative about road condition and the fact the electricity is run off generator which is on for limited period only. We will go back again and again if we can."

  • "Lovely"

    30 June 2014

"Perfect for a quiet getaway with friends/family. Lovely place to completely relax. Pet friendly also a plus."

  • "Excellent Value for money"

    18 April 2014

"Well worth travelling up the mountainside to reach this splendid location. Very clean, well equipped, hugely spacious with beautiful garden and surroundings, nothing really to fault it. Owner and close by staff (Walter) extremely helpful and friendly. So, if you fancy staying in a location miles from nowhere, this is the place to go."
