Mtwalume Riverside-on-Sea Chalets

We are situated about 95 km from Durban on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast. This is still one of the few unspoilt beaches along our coastline, away from the hustle and bustle of city life but still near enough to enjoy all the amenities around us. It occupies a unique elevated position and enjoys superb inland and sea views.

Our little resort offers you self-catering accommodation without the crowds. The chalets are designed to sleep between two and 10 persons per chalet and includes bedding but not towels. Chalet kitchenettes are fully equipped and have mini-stoves with ovens, fridges, microwaves, kettles, toasters and electric frying pans. All chalets have one bathroom with either baths or showers. They have sheltered patios with portable braais and garden furniture with views over the Mtwalume River and sea.

We have a swimming pool on the resort with two swings close by. There is also a lapa with poolside braai facilities .

The reception office has a tuck shop, a laundry and a recreation games room with a TV with DStv, a pool table, table tennis and darts.

Access control at the entrance gates ensures your safety. We are a 600-metre stroll from the beach. The beach has a large tidal pool to be enjoyed by kids and adults alike. Alternatively guests can swim in the warm blue waters of the Indian Ocean.

Margate, the hub of the South Coast, is a mere 50 km away and the Wild Coast Casino only 80 km. Hibberdene is about 10 km away and also the nearest town to us. It boasts a shopping centre, doctors and a lovely beachfront with a restaurant or two. Other sights around us worth a visit are the Oribi Gorge, crocodile farms and snake parks. For the golf enthusiasts, there are various golf courses in close proximity.

"There was no dining table. please buy TV stand so we can use that coffee table.swimming pool was filthy<br/><br/>Establishment Review:<br/>The small lounge does not have enough space to add an extra table - he did have the option of using the patio<br/>with the table and chairs provided.<br/>He says the pool was filthy. We had a gale force wind this whole weekend. Yes, the pool had leaves in but I can send you a photo of the pool now and there is a BIG difference between filthy and leaves that have blown into the pool because of the wind. I feel this review to be very unfair.<br/>Regards,<br/>"

  • "BIGGEST MISTAKE EVER!!!!"

    11 February 2018

"It was a horrible Nightmare!! I am scared of dogs and I was welcomed by a Huge Dog that was not even tied. I looked forward to swimming as they had a pool however I was unable to because I was indoors the entire weekend as I was scared of the Dog. My friends were very dissappointed as they went to the pool and it was dirty. The beds are old and uncomfortable. The furniture is very old, we were unable to adjust the fridge. We were told it's a 10 sleeper meanwhile it was a 8 sleeper.Owners are rude, Arrogant and have no way of speaking to people. I wouldn't recommend anyone to visit that Dump!!!"
